PMI’s Houston Campus is offering two new associate degree programs: Dental Hygiene and Physical Therapy Assistant. These associate degree programs offer a comprehensive curriculum designed to train students for entry-level positions in their respective fields.

“We are thrilled to offer these two exciting new associate degree programs at our Houston campus,” said Philip Heine, campus director for Pima Medical Institute’s Houston campus. “Both the Physical Therapist Assistant program and the Dental Hygiene program meet our students’ career interests and the community’s need for highly skilled, professional health care workers in these medical fields.”

Students in the Dental Hygiene program receive classroom instruction that includes topics such as communication, anatomy and physiology, radiography, oral pathology, pain management, dental materials, periodontics and more, along with real-world training that will help them put what they’ve learned into practice.

“Similar dental hygiene programs require students to attend classes for three years,” said Heine. “Our accelerated, rigorous curriculum prepares students to be competent in clinical dental hygiene in just two years.”

Those enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant program will learn about anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, physical therapy techniques, treatment plans, rehabilitation therapies and more. They will also perform externships in the community, working with local physical therapists, gaining experience in the field prior to graduation.

The Albuquerque campus is excited to be the first Pima Medical Institute campus to offer the Dental Hygiene program to our students. We look forward to addressing the community’s need for qualified, professional health care workers in the dental field. This associate degree program is a first for Pima Medical Institute and offers a variety of course subjects designed to train students for entry-level positions as dental hygienists.

The new Dental Hygiene programs builds upon Pima Medical Institute’s dedication to offer relevant, quality education that is affordable. The program helps students develop the skill set necessary for success in the field. Students receive classroom instruction that includes topics such as communication, anatomy and physiology, radiography, oral pathology, patient management, dental materials, periodontics and more, along with real-world training that will help them put what they’ve learned into practice.

The Dental Hygiene program is the first new program to be added to the Albuquerque campus since its expansion into the 44,000-square-foot space at the Pavilions at San Mateo, in early 2010. To date, Pima Medical Institute offers 11 associate degree and certificate programs in Albuquerque, including a Massage Therapy program offered at its Massage School and Clinic, located on San Pedro N.E.

PMI has hired Program Directors at both the Houston and Seattle campuses to begin the development of Dental Hygiene programs there.
