I had my daughter at a young age and realized I needed to focus on a career and a future for us. After months of research, I made the decision to attend PMI's Medical Assisting program while working as a full time single mother. We'd leave the house at 5:30 am, I'd drop her off at daycare, come to school, then go to work, pick her up from daycare, get home at 8:30 pm, eat dinner, put her to bed and I'd do homework for a couple hours and get to bed around 1- 2 am, and wake up and do it all over again. My motivation to stay strong and work hard was my daughter! My teachers encouraged me through my program and they believed in me 100%. After I graduated, I worked in a hospital followed by a pediatrician's office. Today, I work for an outpatient family medicine clinic and I love it!
I wouldn't trade anything I went through to get where I am today. My little girl and I now have a home, she has a yard to play in and everything that a little girl should have growing up, and so much more. I've recently been offered a promotion for a leadership role. They will be paying for me to go back to school to get my RN and Surgical Tech degrees. When people ask me how I got to where I am today, I tell them PMI.

My journey with Pima Medical Institute began unexpectedly while working at Chipotle to fund my dream of attending Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) school. A co-worker there who was attending Pima Medical told me about the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. I had never heard of a PTA before, but I was intrigued and secured an interview the following week and was accepted into the program in early 2012. The deciding factors were the program's affordability and the expedited entry into a career in the medical field.
The PTA program proved demanding, surpassing the rigor of my previous bachelor's degree. Juggling a full-time job alongside the intensive program was challenging, but I knew I had to take my school work seriously in order to be successful in my new career. One thing I appreciated was how dedicated the instructor team was at helping each student be successful. The supportive environment allowed for unlimited questions and open hours on non-class days, facilitating additional preparation for exams.
I secured my first job with Children's Hospital Colorado, despite the advertised requirement of three years of experience. Since 2014, I have been dedicated to Inpatient Rehab Physical Therapist at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. I have also had the privilege of being a Colorado State Physical Therapy Board member since 2019, serving as Vice President for three years (2020, 2021, 2024). Additionally, I contribute to the Advisory Board for Pima Medical's PTA program at the Denver Campus.
My gratitude to my former instructors knows no bounds. Their support, starting from granting me a chance, has been unwavering even a decade after completing the program. I whole heartedly endorse Pima Medical Institute, confident in the transformative journey it offers to aspiring health professionals.

I was an unemployed single mom with 4 children, living with my parents when a friend told me about PMI. She shared with me the positive experiences she had and when I heard there were evening classes, I decided PMI might work for me. When I first started, I didn't think I would get very far. I knew the classes would be hard and I didn't think I was smart enough to finish. I soon realized the education and instructors were the best. They were there to help me every step of the way and it felt like family.
Although nervous, I felt prepared for my externship at Sunset Clinic. I was hired there as a receptionist upon graduation. As a result of my new job, I am preparing to live on my own with my kids. I feel like I have accomplished so much and my family and friends are so proud of me. My experience at Pima has been the best experience of my life and I can't thank them enough for everything they taught me.

My medical career started back in high school when I had the opportunity to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. After serving 10 years in the army, I decided I wanted to get back into the medical field, so I found PMI and enrolled in their Medical Assistant program. After 6 weeks, I quit. Transitioning from the military to going back to school after having been out for so long was really tough for me. One day I stopped back at the school and one of my instructors pulled me aside and encouraged me to come back. I decided to return and give it one more shot. I ended up loving the hands on training in the classroom. Heading into a new job as an MA, I felt ready and prepared thanks to my instructors.
After graduating, I decided I wanted to continue my education. I had a family to support and needed to work full-time, and PMI's online program allowed me to do both. Balancing work, family and classes was a struggle, but it was definitely worth it. I found my classes to be applicable to my job as an MA and I am proud to say I recently completed my associate's degree in Health Care Administration. I don't want to stop there, so I've just started school to become a registered nurse. I want to say "Thank You" to all my instructors; if it weren't for them, I wouldn't have come back to school and I wouldn't have a career I love.

I have always wanted to be a nurse, but it took until my forties to become an RN. Right after high school I became a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked in nursing homes. Not long after, I married a military man and we moved to Japan with our first child and I had to put my dream on hold. After more life situations, I ended up divorced and back in Tucson as a single mom of two children. I wanted to attend nursing school but knew I needed to wait until my kids were older before investing in myself, so I worked as a Patient Care Technician. When I was finally ready, I enrolled at Pima Medical Institute where I could avoid waiting lists and start immediately. I was in my late 30's and was the oldest person in my class and it was challenging. I wasn't very savvy with computer skills and preferred to take notes on paper, but my instructors were great! They were tough but they taught us what we needed to be successful.
While a student at PMI, I made a connection with a hospital administrator while volunteering at a nursing conference. She knew my interest in working in a psychiatric unit and suggested I meet with the director of the recently opened Geriatric Psychiatry Unit at Tucson Medical Center. That meeting led to a clinical rotation and a job offer before I had even graduated. I have been an RN in that Gero Psych Unit for over two years and I am currently assisting in a leadership role on the unit. I am so thankful to PMI for a career I love! This is my passion and I am right where I want to be. It may sound cheesy, but I was born to do this!

I was in my early 20's, ready to complete a degree in finance when I realized I really didn't want to spend my life sitting behind a desk. I had a few family members working in the radiography field and I noticed they not only had a great career, but they could choose to work in different modalities and had lots of variety in their jobs. I began researching, found Pima Medical Institute's Radiography program and enrolled.
I had wonderful instructors! It's an intense and tough program, but the way the program is structured really makes you feel prepared for your profession. I enjoyed the shorter rotations for clinicals which exposed me to many different areas and modalities. Once I knew what I was looking for, I was able to complete multiple rotations in my area of interest which prepared me for a job at that very location. I was hired at University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) and after a year I was promoted to a charge technologist and almost 2 years ago I moved into the role of General Radiology Supervisor. I love the fast-paced environment at UNMH. We're the only trauma one hospital in the state and we see something new every day. I'm not the only Pima Medical graduate in my department, we currently have five employees that were my classmates and each year I hire multiple new Pima Medical new graduates.
Pima Medical provided a great education and really prepared me for the field.

I attended a university where I obtained my bachelor's degree in communications, but after working a number of jobs that didn't really utilize my degree, I began considering the medical field. I wanted to get started as soon as possible, so I bypassed the community college program that had a list of prerequisites and enrolled in Pima Medical Institute's Radiography program. Even though the cost was a little more, unlike the other programs, everything from books to uniforms were included in the tuition price.
I appreciated the schedule and structure of the program that allowed time for class, work and study. Our class was quite a diverse group with students right out of high school and older students looking for their second career, but we worked really well together. I was able to obtain a job less than a month after graduation at an orthopedic clinic and enjoyed working there for almost three years. After moving to El Paso, I began working as a Lead Tech at The Hospitals of Providence, Sierra Campus. At first, I didn't realize there even was a campus in El Paso, but I was so excited to meet other Pima Medical students at my hospital. Now several years later, I have joined the team at Pima Medical El Paso where I am currently the RAD Clinical Director.
Shortly before my graduation, someone came and spoke to us about Pima Medical's online programs. And even though I already had a bachelor's degree, I decided to enroll in the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS). I found I was easily able to transition right into the program, they accepted many of my previous university credits and I finished in about a year. Much of what I learned in that program is helping me in my current position and I'm planning to start the master's program in the near future.
I am very happy that I chose Pima Medical Institute - I got the best education!

I am in my 18th year of Veterinary Medicine! I have been credentialed in a total of four states throughout my career. I obtained my first job where I'd had my clinical assignment and I loved it and worked in primary care for five years. I felt like I needed to advance my career and learn more so I started my five-year career in specialty surgery. I love learning and growing, so while working in surgery, I started picking up shifts in our emergency department. My heart is certainly in emergency medicine where I've been working for the last eight years, including managing a veterinary hospital in Texas and fulfilling my life's dream by working at The University of Florida Small Animal Hospital.
I remember back in 2005 living in Las Vegas and looking for a career. I didn't just want a job. I wanted a career that would make me feel fulfilled and I wanted to work with animals, so I chose Pima Medical Institute's Veterinary Assistant (VA) program and I loved it! When I found they were adding a Veterinary Technician (VT) program I immediately enrolled in the first ever VT program at the Las Vegas Campus. The thing I appreciated the most at Pima Medical were my instructors. Dennis Lopez was an amazing teacher who not only gave us book smarts, he taught us about real life and work in veterinary medicine.
I am so grateful for my education and training at Pima Medical. I definitely felt prepared for my new career and I've never looked back.

I am a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), employed at the University of Arizona with the Veterinary Services and Animal Behavioral Team at the Center for Innovation in Brain Science. We focus on finding cures for: Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis and ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). The hands-on experience and skills I obtained from Pima Medical Institute's Veterinary Technician (VT) program has been invaluable in my new fast-paced career.
After spending several years in the aviation industry, the pandemic forced an opportunity upon me that led me to pursue my passion for animal sciences as my next profession. After researching several programs, I decided Pima Medical's Veterinary Technician (VT) program was perfect for me. The curriculum has a heavy emphasis on hands-on skill development, offers year-round enrollment, includes externships with a variety of practices and quality educators (CVTs and DVMs).
I was apprehensive about returning to college after graduating so many years ago and was intimidated by current educational technology. The people at Pima Medical were very accepting and supportive and the program was a great experience for me. My courses allowed me to gain both real world experience with hands-on labs and real work experience (large animal experience at ranches and rescues, microchip clinics, spay and neuter events) and were a great addition to my resume. I was offered a position at my first externship site, a busy 24-hour mixed practice emergency veterinary hospital and recently started my new exciting career at the University of Arizona. I'm thankful for Pima Medical's VT program which offered me the opportunity to pursue my goals in the veterinary field by providing the tools I needed to succeed and make a difference.

I was a first responder for close to 20 years when the pandemic hit. I've always been interested in helping others and always wanted to be a nurse. So as a first step in that process, I enrolled in Pima Medical Institute's 9-month Medical Assistant (MA) program.
Being a student again after so many years was fun! I had a wonderful instructor in Lisa Gabaldon. She instilled such positivity in each one of us. During the program, I had to have surgery requiring me to be non-weight bearing and in a wheelchair. At times I wanted to give up, but my instructors encouraged me and wouldn't let me quit. One thing I really appreciated about my education at Pima Medical was the dedication of the staff. They really take the time to explain things until they become clear and I utilize the skills they taught me every day in my career.
Unfortunately, after graduation it took a long time for me to recover enough from my surgery to begin applying for positions. I was offered a job at an orthopedic clinic, but it was just too far for me to travel. While looking at job boards, I came across this fabulous federal job that incorporated health and safety. I was hired by SAMES Engineering and Surveying, a contractor with Los Alamos National Lab (LANL), the birthplace of the atomic bomb. My position is unique, as I do Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) ensuring safety of all workers on job sites. The position requires a lot of paperwork, computer use and outdoor work. I love my job! I am very well paid and have chances for advancement and opportunity to travel.
I want to thank my instructors, Mrs. Gabaldon and Ms. Ingram for not letting me give up and encouraging me to reach for the future. I am proof anything is possible.

After several years of working as a LIMITED scope radiologic technologist for my orthopedic group, it was time to figure out a way to make the transition into a FULL scope radiologic technologist. I knew the doctors were planning on expanding our practice, including opening an MRI center, and I wanted to be qualified to be part of the growth. I needed a program that would allow me to continue working while attending school and also provide the education I would need to become fully certified and earn my MRI certification. That's why I chose Pima Medical Institute's online advanced placement radiography (now called RAD Bridge) program.
My experience in the program was great. The admissions department did a great job detailing the highlights of the program and the financial aid office thoroughly explained the cost. I felt supported by everyone during the didactic portion of the program, all the way through my externship, and even after graduation. One thing I appreciated about the program was that the material is so relevant to what you see out in the field. I can't think of anything we learned where I thought, "I'm never going to need to know this."
Since graduating, I've spent the last seven years working as an MRI technologist. I had such a positive experience and outcome with the first Pima Medical program, I enrolled in the Bachelor's in Radiologic Sciences program and just finished last year. I would certainly recommend Pima Medical to others. These programs can help you advance and take advantage of opportunities while you are working at your job.

In 2016, I completed my bachelor's degree (Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences) through Pima Medical Institute's Online program. A few years later, they offered me the chance to pursue a master's program (Master of Organizational Leadership) at a good tuition rate. Despite initially vowing not to return to school, I seized the opportunity.
Balancing a full-time job and two per diem positions was challenging, totaling about 70 hours of work a week. However, with two-month courses that kept me engaged, I pushed through, always carrying my laptop with me to avoid falling behind. What made this program truly valuable was its immediate application in my professional life. My capstone project focused on improving employee satisfaction by revising schedules - a project I was already implementing at my new job.
Surprisingly, my master's degree opened doors I hadn't expected. A friend sought a new supervisor for their facility, and my enrollment in a master's program played a significant role in their decision to hire me. Today, I proudly serve as the MRI Supervisor at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, PA.
I'm immensely thankful for my dedicated instructors, who were always accessible and supportive despite the distance. Choosing Pima Medical was a life-changing decision. It not only equipped me with the knowledge and skills for my role but also offered unwavering support and a sense of belonging within their educational community. My journey to an MRI Supervisor underscores the incredible potential that Pima Medical can unlock for its students.
