I had just had my last cancer surgery and was sitting on my couch at home when I heard the commercial. I got up and began researching medical assistant and Pima Medical Institute and made my decision. It was difficult going back to school and being the oldest student in the class. But the teachers cared and helped me every step of the way. Even after I graduated and began my career, I'd often call my instructor, Mrs. Cooks, with an insurance or billing question. My first job was at a sleep clinic where I'd completed my externship. After only a month I was promoted to the office manager. About a year ago I received a phone call from someone at PMI asking me to come and teach for them. I was both shocked and touched. I am currently the lead Medical Assistant instructor and I have continued my education completing my associate's degree in Health Care Administration through PMI's Online Campus. I have seen that PMI keeps their promise to help their graduates forever. I have a student who has been out of school for five years and is back for a refresher course, at no additional cost. Many of our instructors are alumni or are enrolled in our online programs. PMI is a great place to work. I can't ever remember working in such a pleasant environment.

Coming to PMI for the Dental Assistant program was the best choice of my life! Prior to PMI life was tough! I worked at Walmart for 6 years and was living paycheck to paycheck. After my husband and I got married, he said to me - why don't you go to school and better yourself? But, I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I had gotten braces put on my teeth when I saw my teeth transitioning into a new smile, I knew the dental field was the place for me. I chose the Dental Assistant program at PMI because it was faster than going to a community college. I enrolled and had a wonderful experience at PMI! It was challenging to go back to school after being out so long and I was particularly concerned about math. But my instructor offered to stay after class to help me and I one of my classmates became a great study partner. We were taught everything we needed to know prior to our externship, so it was a smooth transition. I was hired at my place of externship and currently work at Cheyenne Mountain Modern Dentistry. I love everything about my job! We are treated like family. My goal is to go back to school to become a Dental Hygienist. I'm passionate about my job and can't wait to progress in the dental field. I worked for the census bureau for almost 5 years but I always wanted to do something in healthcare. So when a coworker invited me to come with her to check out Pima Medical Institute, I jumped at the chance. I knew very little about the Respiratory Therapy Program, but I signed up. I had wonderful instructors and a great experience. It was challenging to work full time and attend classes but I knew my goal. After working in many areas of respiratory at Banner Hospital, I transitioned into Pulmonary Function Testing. I knew I wanted more so I came back to Pima Medical and enrolled in the online Health Care Administration Bachelor Degree program. I have 3 children and I continued working full time while taking classes, so it was challenging but also very convenient to my life and I found the instructors to be very responsive. After graduating, I was promoted to the Respiratory Manager for Pulmonary Function. Part of my bachelor's requirement was to build a business plan. I had chosen to create a Mobile Pulmonary Lab business and that process totally prepared me for my current position. Actually, many of my online classes were applicable to my job. We even learned leadership and communication skills through our group discussions. Both of my programs at Pima Medical were a great learning experience for me! My family is first, but eventually I would love to continue my education and get my master's degree. Thanks for my start, Pima Medical!

I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my life. I began working as a CNA, and through my experiences in the hospital, I became excited about a possible career in the medical field. I heard a commercial about Pima Medical Institute and decided the quickest way into a career was enrolling in their 9 month Medical Assistant program. That opened the door for me, but I loved learning and knew I wanted more. My dad passed away in 2015 from a drowning incident and that experience pushed me toward the respiratory therapy field. Through that incident I was able to observe the amazing work that respiratory therapists do and I said to myself, "I want to be one of them". One year after completing the MA program, I started Pima Medical's Respiratory Therapy program and I loved every moment of it! The program was challenging, but our classes were small and I connected with my classmates. We developed an almost family-type relationship. I loved my instructors; they really wanted us to succeed. After completing my clinical experience, I was hired at St Anthony North Medical Health Center in Westminster, CO. I love my job! Recently, I have been working in the COVID ICU. I help intubate, manage ventilators and endotracheal tubes and give breathing treatments to those struggling to breath. I feel like I have found my calling. I love Pima Medical. They did so much for me. Down the road I hope to continue my education by getting my bachelor's degree and possibly even obtaining my master's degree in the respiratory field.

In 2012 I was in a bad accident and spent time in the hospital. This experience enabled me to observe the nurses and see how they cared for people. I had been working as a team lead at Target for a number of years but I decided that I wanted to do more than help people spend money, so I began pursuing the medical field. I started as a CNA and after 4 years decided I wanted to attend school to become an LPN. I heard about Pima Medical Institute on the radio and got excited about attending their Practical Nursing program. I have to admit my first sequence of classes was really challenging! The whole program was a huge learning experience for me, but my hard work paid off. I appreciated how the whole program was laid out ahead of time, including our course work and the schedule. This really helped us be successful. I was offered a job at my clinical site. The administrator took notice of me and offered me a position as a unit manager, not your typical first job as an LPN. I believe Pima Medical helped me develop a level of confidence that made a difference in obtaining this position. Recently, I was contacted by another facility and offered a job as another unit manager. I am honored and proud that in such a short time my education and hard work has provided opportunities for growth in my career. Pima Medical prepared me to be successful. The encouragement and support I got from my instructors was just overwhelming, and it's an experience I am always going to cherish.

I have always had an interest in the medical field, but had no idea where to begin. My brother went to Pima Medical Institute for the Veterinary Technician program, which led me to look into the school. After my first tour, I knew it was the place for me and I enrolled in the Medical Assistant (MA) program. My student experience was amazing! I had fantastic instructors and got so much hands-on experience in such a short amount of time. At first, it was difficult to balance full-time school while working, but I loved what I was learning so much that putting in the work was something I was more than willing to do. I loved getting to practice my hands-on skills with my classmates. Doing things like injections and blood draws on real people truly prepares you for real patients. I graduated from Pima Medical with a 4.0 GPA, and as soon as I started to apply for jobs, the offers were rolling in! I ultimately chose to work at University of Washington Medical Center because it seemed like the best opportunity for me, and it definitely has been. Since graduating, I have been working at UW for the last year. I have learned so much and have never been more confident in a job. Getting my education at Pima Medical Institute was truly one of the best decisions I have ever made. It prepared me so much for my future and made stepping into a new role a piece of cake. I would highly recommend Pima Medical to others seeking to change their lives.

When I decided to become a radiologic technologist, Pima Medical Institute's Radiography (RAD) program stood out to me. Unlike community college, I could start right away, and that was a big draw. The program was challenging, but the friendships I formed with my classmates kept me motivated and accountable. I really enjoyed my instructors, who provided both emotional and professional support. The diversity of my clinical rotations was something I truly appreciated. I had the chance to practice my skills in a variety of settings, from a rural hospital to an orthopedic clinic, a large hospital, and even special procedure rotations. These experiences not only helped me decide which areas of radiography I enjoyed most but also pushed me out of my comfort zone, honing my skill set. My first job was in urgent care, where I was the only tech on site. This role was invaluable for my growth. I had to rely on my education and critical thinking skills to obtain the best images possible. After years of working in different disciplines, I discovered my passion in Interventional Radiology and the Cath Lab. I became the lead tech in a Neuro Endovascular Lab, a role that eventually led me to join Rapid Medical Inc. as a Clinical Specialist. This position has been one of the best things to happen in my career, allowing me to travel, expand my knowledge, and contribute to patient care in a new way. I'm incredibly grateful to Pima Medical Institute for their RAD program and the online Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS) program. Both provided a strong foundation that has allowed my career to flourish.

My mom had been a nurse in the Philippines, but after moving to the US she cared for us and began working as a phlebotomist. This influenced my decision to go into the medical field after high school. On a whim one day, I stopped by Pima Medical Institute and ended up enrolling in the three-month Phlebotomy program which started two weeks later. It was fast paced and very different from high school as students were all ages and yet we were all looking for a change or a new career. Even though our time together was short, it felt like family. My first job was with a blood donation company and after moving to eastern Washington, I worked at a hospital. This gave me a variety of experiences and built my confidence and I later transitioned into dialysis. I knew I eventually wanted to become a Medical Assistant (MA) and even though Pima Medical was a long commute, I had confidence in them so I enrolled in the MA program. I was pregnant, worked full time and had a long commute each day, but I did it! I feel like Pima Medical helped shape me into a resilient person. After graduation I worked at a hospital and a few other sites as an MA. But it wasn't long before I began to envision myself in administration, so I chose to complete the Health Care Administration online associate degree. That program gave me so much confidence and I loved it. After graduating, I saw an opening for a Career Services Advisor at Pima Medical, applied, and got the job. Now, I get to guide students and share my journey with them. Watching them grow reminds me of my own transformation. Pima Medical has been a constant in my life, and I'm proud to be part of a team that changes lives every day.

When I got braces in high school, I was fascinated by how something so simple could transform a person's smile-and their confidence. That experience sparked my interest in the dental field, and after researching options, I found Pima Medical Institute's Dental Assistant (DA) program. I enrolled right after high school and jumped into the program. My instructors were incredible! I never considered myself a standout student, but the hands-on learning style was perfect for me. I learned so much, and when it came time for my externship, it felt like a breeze because I was so prepared. They even offered me a job as soon as I finished, and I worked there happily until I moved out of state. Since graduating in 2011, I've worked in every part of a dental office-from assisting to managing the front desk to being an office manager. Today, I'm a mom of two fast-growing kids, and I want more flexibility to be with them, so I'm going back to school for billing and coding. This will allow me to continue working in the dental field from home. I love the dental field because I get to make a difference-helping patients find relief from pain or transforming their smiles - and I'm excited about the next chapter in my dental career. Pima Medical is an amazing place with caring instructors and I would choose it all over again. It's changed my life.
