Ryan Johnson Pima Medical offered me a great
Veterinary Assistant Program starting point in the veterinary field
Veterinary Technician Program
Phoenix Campus and has provided me an excellent
Graduated 2018 & 2019 path for success.
After high school, I found myself unsure of what I wanted
to do. After jumping around from job to job, I always
found myself gravitating toward jobs with animals, so I
began researching schools with veterinary programs. I
had visited several other schools before coming to Pima
Medical Institute, but when I walked through the doors, it
had a different feel and I realized its Veterinary Assistant
program was a perfect fit. The teachers made it very
easy for me to want to learn and attend classes every
day. They were always available to help me understand
the concepts I needed to learn in order to succeed.
My externship site wanted to hire me and I accepted a
position as a Veterinary Assistant at a very fast-paced
emergency clinic in Phoenix. I would often walk through
the door and immediately step into hands-on situations
both with the doctors and the animals and I wouldn’t
stop until my shift had ended!
After spending a semester of pre-veterinarian classes at
the University of Montana Western, I am back at home
specializing in the animal field. Currently, I am working as
a Veterinary Technician at Luke AFB Veterinarian Clinic. I
am also pursuing my dream working at the Phoenix Zoo.
As part of the Living Collections team, I get to collab-
orate with everyone from veterinary to conservation
teams.
Pima Medical offered me a great starting point in the
veterinary field and has provided me an excellent path
for success.
