I had been a stay at home mom for almost 10 years and had 3 beautiful children when I went through a divorce. I didn't have a career and the jobs I found just didn't pay our bills. I was so discouraged! My sister kept telling me to go back to school but I just didn't see how I could go to school, work, and care for my children.
One day I heard an advertisement on the radio for Pima Medical Institute and I thought ... maybe I can do it. I found the people at PMI to be so helpful and understanding. I knew it would be a difficult 9 months and I'd be putting in 20 hour days 3-4 times a week, but I also knew if I sacrificed now, it would mean a better future for my kids. So, I started the Medical Assistant program. It was tough and I was often exhausted. But I kept reminding myself and my kids why we were doing this. One day in the car my son held up my stethoscope and said, "Mom, you did this for us!" It was one of the best moments!
I'm so grateful for all the people at PMI - they were like family to me. Now I have a career in the medical field and a fantastic job with so much potential. Most of all I can provide for my children and they are SO proud of me! THANK YOU PMI!

When my children were heading off to college, I realized it was my turn to invest in myself. I wanted a career that aligned with my passions-health, fitness and helping people-while also offering job stability and global opportunities. Becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) checked all the boxes, and after researching different programs, Pima Medical Institute stood out as the perfect fit for my timeline and lifestyle.
Going back to school after 15 years as a stay-at-home soccer mom was the hardest thing I've ever done. The fast-paced, condensed program challenged me academically, and the commute from Tacoma to North Seattle meant long days followed by even longer nights of studying. But Pima Medical provided endless support-faculty were always available, and I took advantage of every extra lab and hands-on practice session. They held us to high standards because patients deserve the best, not just someone getting by.
After graduation, I started at an orthopedic outpatient clinic, later transitioning to Olympic Sports and Spine, where I earned my orthopedic sports certification and became a Certified Lymphatic Therapist. Eventually, I sought a setting that allowed more personalized patient care, leading me to a private practice where I now enjoy one-on-one treatment sessions. I plan to retire here.
Pima Medical gave me the knowledge, confidence, and professionalism to succeed. Even after graduating, I've stayed connected with my instructors, who were always honest, supportive and dedicated. My career allows me to keep learning and growing, and for that, I'm forever grateful.

We became parents at a very young age and life was very difficult for us, especially financially. My husband's job had a very demanding schedule. I had trouble finding a job that paid me enough to cover the cost of childcare. I knew I needed an education, but I didn't know how to make it work.
That is when I made the decision to look into Pima Medical Institute. I walked in one day with my baby in tow. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I was surprised to find out I could sign up for an evening Dental Assistant program that would provide me a career. I loved my classes and the hands on training and enjoyed interacting with my classmates. But, I hit a road block when I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I had complications and had to quit my classes.
With two children under the age of 2, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to complete my program. But, after taking a little time off, I walked back in those doors. I had the best support system I could have ever imagined. The people at PMI helped me reset my goals and get to the finish line. There were plenty of bumps in the road, but I was able to finish with high grades and confidence. I am currently working at a dental office that I love, with amazing people. We are 23 years old and we're buying a house and providing for our children. I am so grateful to PMI for all the support they have given me. They gave me a career and an opportunity to succeed.

For 20 years I worked in the food industry. In 2016 I took the steps to get my GED and start my life. I attended a semester and at a community college and realized that it was not for me. I left there one day and walked into Pima Medical Institute in tears not knowing what I was doing or where I was going with my life. That is when I met Renee, my admissions advisor. She took me into her arms hugged me and showed me the compassion and love that I needed. She helped me enroll in the Pharmacy Technician program and I started my new life on January 8, 2018. My instructor is the most compassionate person and has been my biggest support through the program. She was even instrumental in helping me obtain my job at Fry's Pharmacy while I was still in school. The teaching and knowledge I received while at Pima Medical Institute has made me the person that I am today and I feel so blessed.
I am becoming the person that I have always wanted to be. I'm educated, successful, and compassionate towards others and a knowledgeable person. I am so thankful for my success. I am 37 years of age and I have been in such a rut, not knowing where I am going with my life. But all that has changed. I want to say thank you to everyone at PMI! They went above and beyond to teach me how to become a successful Pharmacy Technician. My externship site has already offered me a job and I am excited to see what the future holds.

I am currently working as a Medical Assistant in the area of vascular surgery at the New Mexico Heart Institute and I love my job!
It wasn't very long ago that I was working a night shift security position where I was bored, felt like I wasn't getting anywhere and longed for a career. One night I started researching online looking for something in the medical field and Pima Medical Institute popped up. I simply completed a brief form and they called the next day. Before I knew it, I was enrolled in the Medical Assistant Program. I was glad I didn't have a chance to second guess my decision.
Going back to school was challenging for me. I was still working security full time at night, going to school during the day and trying to find time to spend with my two-year-old daughter. That being said, Pima Medical provides everything you need to get started, including your uniform and backpack. I heard the passion in the voice of my first instructor when she spoke and it wasn't long before I fell in love with the medical field. I felt like there was no question whether we were going to succeed. Everyone at Pima Medical was so helpful.
When it came time for my externship, Pima Medical's career services department worked hard to place me at a site that fit my schedule and enabled me to continue working my security job. Being placed with a plastic surgeon was not my first choice, but I had an amazing experience and the doctor ended up recommending me for my current position at New Mexico Heart Institute. I'm so grateful for my new career!

I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field. I attended the university and earned my bachelor's degree in kinesiology with plans to become a physical therapist (PT). But life happened, I became engaged and I realized in the time it would take me just to get into PT school, I could attend a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program and begin working in the field. As I was applying to PTA programs, I heard an ad on the radio for Pima Medical Institute and I enrolled in their program.
It was challenging, but I was so much more successful than I was in the university setting. The program is accelerated, only 18 months, and since every class was relevant to my new career, I was fully engaged. I appreciated all the hands-on knowledge and my instructors were the best out there and really helped prepare me for working in the field. I had good rotations for clinicals and was able to really practice my skills and gain experience. After graduation I bounced around a few different settings before finding my spot in pediatric home health. I absolutely love treating my kiddos and making a difference in their lives. I just love my job!
I have always maintained a relationship with my Pima Medical instructors and served on their advisory board. Recently, I had the opportunity to become a part-time instructor for the very program I graduated from. I now get to explore my love for teaching and my love for treating at the same time.

For 10 years, I worked in customer access at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, a county facility. When I moved to El Paso I had difficulty finding a job. I've always been afraid of blood and needles but I decided I wanted to change that. So, when I saw a sign for Pima Medical Institute, I decided to enroll in the Medical Assistant program.
I was in my thirties when I started and felt really nervous, but I loved the program and found it to be very manageable. During that time, I ended up in a very difficult relationship and the people at Pima Medical were amazing and offered compassion and support. I've never met nicer people. Shortly after completing my certification, I lost both my baby and my twin sister and I had to just put everything on hold. During that quiet time in my life, I got a call from Pima Medical letting me know about the Health Care Administration online program and I knew it was what I needed. I finished my associate degree and am currently working on my bachelor's. I love the flexibility of online and it has helped me create a schedule that works for my family and me. This opportunity has helped me to get back into the real world at a pace I can handle.
Earning my certification and furthering my education has opened many opportunities. I hope to return to Parkland Hospital in management, where I can use my certification and education. Pima Medical is hands-on with your education and they care about you as a person. They gave me courage and made me feel like I could do it. It's been an amazing experience!

While initially interested in Dental Hygiene (DH), at age 18, I chose to pursue Dental Assisting (DA) instead, partly because I was hesitant to commit to a university four-year DH program. Later, as I learned about Pima Medical Institute's two-year DH program, my research told me it was highly reputable and very challenging. This both intrigued me and motivated me and I enrolled.
During my third semester an unexpected pregnancy brought huge challenges. My baby son was diagnosed with gastroschisis, a high-risk condition requiring frequent medical visits and a 54-day stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Despite the challenges of being a new mother and the emotional strain of the situation, I remained determined to succeed in my studies. I studied and completed assignments while at the NICU, my son serving as my inspiration. He was a reminder of my strength and my determination to never give up on my dreams. My DA employer had been supportive and excited about my becoming a Dental Hygienist and invited me to join their team as a DH upon obtaining my license.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of my instructors at Pima Medical for their unwavering support during my journey, especially as I navigated the challenges of my son's condition. Each instructor was incredibly helpful and supportive, always striving for my success. I am confident in the quality of education I received and would enthusiastically recommend it to others. While the program is rigorous, it is definitely achievable-I am living proof of that!

After being a truck driver and construction worker for 20 plus years, I made a promise to my mother before she died that I would go back to school. For nearly five years I passed Pima Medical Institute on my daily drive, and finally found the courage to pull in and take the pretest for the Nursing program. Going back to school at age 50 was scary, but I loved the atmosphere, the instructors and my classmates at Pima Medical. The instructors did an exceptional and extraordinary job preparing us for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
I applied at Banner Desert in Mesa where I had completed my clinicals and I was hired. It was 2019, and I was immediately thrown into the COVID Pandemic. A year later I decided to become a traveling nurse. Initially, I worried I might not be qualified enough or have enough experience, but I quickly got over that. Every place is different, but most of the core staff really appreciates the relief that travelers provide. I have been to 10 different places in four years. I'm considered a Banner Staffing Traveler within the Banner facilities nationwide and I call Banner Tucson my home, as it is where I spend the most time. Some of the challenges of being a traveler are finding a place to live and being away from family and friends. But, I am getting experience and confidence in different facilities and becoming more adaptable and flexible in my career. Plus, I am making a great salary.
Pima Medical Institute changed my life forever. I made some lifelong friends during my experience, I had some incredible, humble, giving and caring instructors and I am truly grateful!

When I decided to become a radiologic technologist, Pima Medical Institute's Radiography (RAD) program stood out to me. Unlike community college, I could start right away, and that was a big draw. The program was challenging, but the friendships I formed with my classmates kept me motivated and accountable. I really enjoyed my instructors, who provided both emotional and professional support.
The diversity of my clinical rotations was something I truly appreciated. I had the chance to practice my skills in a variety of settings, from a rural hospital to an orthopedic clinic, a large hospital, and even special procedure rotations. These experiences not only helped me decide which areas of radiography I enjoyed most but also pushed me out of my comfort zone, honing my skill set.
My first job was in urgent care, where I was the only tech on site. This role was invaluable for my growth. I had to rely on my education and critical thinking skills to obtain the best images possible. After years of working in different disciplines, I discovered my passion in Interventional Radiology and the Cath Lab. I became the lead tech in a Neuro Endovascular Lab, a role that eventually led me to join Rapid Medical Inc. as a Clinical Specialist. This position has been one of the best things to happen in my career, allowing me to travel, expand my knowledge, and contribute to patient care in a new way.
I'm incredibly grateful to Pima Medical Institute for their RAD program and the online Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences (BSRS) program. Both provided a strong foundation that has allowed my career to flourish.

had just graduated from high school and was searching for a career that would allow me to help others while staying active. When I discovered Pima Medical Institute's Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program, I knew it was the perfect fit. The opportunity to complete the program in just 18 months and start my dream job immediately was exactly what I was looking for.
My experience at Pima Medical was amazing. The class schedule allowed me to balance my studies with a part-time job, which was important for supporting myself. The coursework was challenging, but my instructors were incredibly supportive and always took the time to help me understand difficult concepts. I especially appreciated how they related the material to real-world, clinical situations, making everything we learned feel more relevant and practical. I knew since I was a child that I wanted to be in the medical field. When it came time for me to graduate from high school, I wasn't interested in a four-year college or university because I just wanted to jump right into the workforce as soon as possible and begin my career in the medical field. After explaining this to my gramma, she recommended Pima Medical Institute. We visited together and took a tour; I knew then that the nine-month Medical Assistant (MA) program was the best fit for me.
My experience as a student was amazing! The MA program is an accelerated program and while you're learning lots of information in a short time, the hands-on practice helps you apply your skills and prepares you for the profession. All the nerves, tears and anxiousness were so worth it. I was so well prepared for my six-week externship that I was offered a position as an MA upon completion. I am still employed there and I recently began going back to school to obtain my associates in Nursing with plans to continue on to get my bachelor's (BSN) degree.
I want to say thank you to every single one of my instructors. Pima Medical changed my life, and I will always be grateful for the education I received, the lifelong relationships I built with my instructors and classmates, and the lasting career it has given me.
