My parents really valued education and wanted all 7 of us all to go to college, but they were unable to help us financially. I spent years working full time and taking classes part time, but it was such a slow process. Eventually, I became interested in pharmacy, spent 8 years working in the pharmaceutical industry while going to school and just missed getting accepted to pharmacy school. While I waited for the next opportunity, I came across Pima Medial Institute's Radiography program and it interested me. A few months into the program I realized this is what I really wanted to do. There are unlimited growth opportunities in this field.
When I came to PMI my classes felt like family. I quickly realized the PMI instructors believed in their students and wanted the best for us. Before I'd even graduated, I had a job offer at a level one trauma center. I worked there for 3 years gaining experience and growing both as a professional and as an individual. I knew I wanted to continue my education, so I enrolled in PMI's online bachelor degree program. PMI's online classes are not only very flexible; they are designed to help you be a better professional in your field. I recently came back to PMI as an instructor. I think having been a student here and recently working in the field, I'm able to understand my student's struggles and help them learn what's really important. My journey into healthcare wasn't planned. During my senior year of high school, I was preparing to study engineering when my dad passed away. It was a tough time, and I decided to take a break. My mom, a nurse, suggested I become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), so I completed an accelerated program and started working at Silver Hills Healthcare Center in Las Vegas. I never imagined a career in long-term care, but I excelled as a CNA and was promoted to rehab aide. One day my regional director, who saw potential in me, signed me up for an informational seminar at Pima Medical Institute for the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program. I attended, was intrigued, and decided to enroll.
Balancing school and work wasn't easy, but Pima Medical made it possible. I worked flexible hours, attended classes and studied late into the evenings. The instructors were experienced, and the small class sizes made learning enjoyable. When I took the national licensing exam, I achieved one of the highest scores my instructor had ever seen. After working in the field, I wanted to grow my career even more, so I enrolled in Pima Medical's online Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration (BSHCA) program. Today, I'm an Assistant Administrator at Alta Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, finishing my Administrator in Training program. Soon, I'll sit for the licensing exam to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, and my ultimate goal is to own a skilled nursing facility.
Pima Medical gave me the tools and confidence to succeed. Their programs may cost a bit more, but they are efficient and effective with no prerequisites. I received a quality education at Pima Medical and I'm proud to be a graduate!

I had my daughter at a young age and realized I needed to focus on a career and a future for us. After months of research, I made the decision to attend PMI's Medical Assisting program while working as a full time single mother. We'd leave the house at 5:30 am, I'd drop her off at daycare, come to school, then go to work, pick her up from daycare, get home at 8:30 pm, eat dinner, put her to bed and I'd do homework for a couple hours and get to bed around 1- 2 am, and wake up and do it all over again. My motivation to stay strong and work hard was my daughter! My teachers encouraged me through my program and they believed in me 100%. After I graduated, I worked in a hospital followed by a pediatrician's office. Today, I work for an outpatient family medicine clinic and I love it!
I wouldn't trade anything I went through to get where I am today. My little girl and I now have a home, she has a yard to play in and everything that a little girl should have growing up, and so much more. I've recently been offered a promotion for a leadership role. They will be paying for me to go back to school to get my RN and Surgical Tech degrees. When people ask me how I got to where I am today, I tell them PMI.

I had just had my last cancer surgery and was sitting on my couch at home when I heard the commercial. I got up and began researching medical assistant and Pima Medical Institute and made my decision. It was difficult going back to school and being the oldest student in the class. But the teachers cared and helped me every step of the way. Even after I graduated and began my career, I'd often call my instructor, Mrs. Cooks, with an insurance or billing question.
My first job was at a sleep clinic where I'd completed my externship. After only a month I was promoted to the office manager. About a year ago I received a phone call from someone at PMI asking me to come and teach for them. I was both shocked and touched. I am currently the lead Medical Assistant instructor and I have continued my education completing my associate's degree in Health Care Administration through PMI's Online Campus.
I have seen that PMI keeps their promise to help their graduates forever. I have a student who has been out of school for five years and is back for a refresher course, at no additional cost. Many of our instructors are alumni or are enrolled in our online programs. PMI is a great place to work. I can't ever remember working in such a pleasant environment.

I really enjoy being employed at Pima Medical Institute as an admission's assistant. I had been a personal banker for years but it was becoming more stressful and I had a desire to work at an educational institution, so when a friend recommended the job at Pima Medical, I jumped at it.
After a time, I found myself considering attending one of their programs. I hadn't been to school in 20 years, but I wanted something for myself. I was trying to determine a way to continue my full time job, care for my family and go to school when Pima Medical's Online department launched their new five semester Health Care Administration program. I enrolled in the first class and was able to get my associate degree while working 40 hours a week and maintaining my family life. The program was very well organized and easy to follow and I found that my online classes really helped me do a better job in my position as an admission's assistant. They certainly brought me to a higher professional level of service. It was a challenge to juggle all my responsibilities, but the sense of accomplishment was amazing! My family was a huge support because there were times I wanted to quit, but I wanted to show my kids I could do it. Now my daughter is enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Pima Medical.
I am so thankful to Pima Medical for my job, my education and now my daughter's education.

I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with my life. I began working as a CNA, and through my experiences in the hospital, I became excited about a possible career in the medical field. I heard a commercial about Pima Medical Institute and decided the quickest way into a career was enrolling in their 9 month Medical Assistant program. That opened the door for me, but I loved learning and knew I wanted more.
My dad passed away in 2015 from a drowning incident and that experience pushed me toward the respiratory therapy field. Through that incident I was able to observe the amazing work that respiratory therapists do and I said to myself, "I want to be one of them". One year after completing the MA program, I started Pima Medical's Respiratory Therapy program and I loved every moment of it! The program was challenging, but our classes were small and I connected with my classmates. We developed an almost family-type relationship. I loved my instructors; they really wanted us to succeed.
After completing my clinical experience, I was hired at St Anthony North Medical Health Center in Westminster, CO. I love my job! Recently, I have been working in the COVID ICU. I help intubate, manage ventilators and endotracheal tubes and give breathing treatments to those struggling to breath. I feel like I have found my calling.
I love Pima Medical. They did so much for me. Down the road I hope to continue my education by getting my bachelor's degree and possibly even obtaining my master's degree in the respiratory field.

I was a dental assistant for 13 years. I loved helping people, but I wanted to do more so I decided to pursue nursing. A friend had attended Pima Medical's Practical Nursing (PN) program and I found I would be able to start the program quickly, so I enrolled.
It was a tough program, but I had great instructors. They all had experience and shared their practical knowledge. They didn't talk down to us, but almost treated us as peers. I was like a sponge and wanted to learn all I could to be fully prepared as a nurse. The career services department connected me with ABQ Heights Healthcare and Rehab Center and they were able to see my work ethic through my clinicals and hired me. I am currently an LPN and in the process of going for my RN.
I started work right at the beginning of the pandemic. It was extreme! It was stressful working with patients who couldn't breathe, seeing many codes, having a lack of supplies and dealing with frustrated family members. It was emotionally very difficult! But surviving all that, showed me that nursing really was where I wanted to be. It can be hard to invest in two-four years of RN education if you're unsure it's for you. I recommend the PN program all the time. It's only one year of your life!
Pima Medical gave me confidence and the skills I needed to be successful. I stay close to my former instructors. They are great resources and are still there for me if I have questions. I love nursing!

I was looking for a change from my previous jobs in food service and explored various community colleges in Seattle. After considering culinary arts, I decided to pursue a healthcare career where I knew jobs were more in demand. I chose Pima Medical Institute because the stories from previous graduates resonated with me. They were just like me, seeking change and career advancement. Despite having no prior knowledge or experience in pharmacy, I chose the Pharmacy Technician program to challenge myself.
My experience at Pima Medical was fun and engaging. The courses, from Career Prep to the Pharmacy Technician classes, were well planned. I learned everything I needed to succeed. The biggest challenge was balancing homework and projects with a full-time job, but it was worth it. The support from the staff at Pima's Renton campus was invaluable. The admissions and financial aid advisors helped me with my FAFSA, easing my financial worries. My Career Prep instructor made learning exciting and engaging. The staff provided support and organized stress-relieving activities like the Halloween costume contest. My instructor imparted all the pharmacy knowledge I needed and now apply daily in my work.
Since graduating from Pima Medical in 2018, I worked at ReadyMeds for nearly four years and I've spent the last several years working as a Specialty Pharmacy Technician at Kaiser Permanente of Washington. I highly recommend Pima Medical Institute for the support and programs they offer to help you achieve your goals and succeed in your career. My mom had been a nurse in the Philippines, but after moving to the US she cared for us and began working as a phlebotomist. This influenced my decision to go into the medical field after high school. On a whim one day, I stopped by Pima Medical Institute and ended up enrolling in the three-month Phlebotomy program which started two weeks later. It was fast paced and very different from high school as students were all ages and yet we were all looking for a change or a new career. Even though our time together was short, it felt like family. My first job was with a blood donation company and after moving to eastern Washington, I worked at a hospital. This gave me a variety of experiences and built my confidence and I later transitioned into dialysis.
I knew I eventually wanted to become a Medical Assistant (MA) and even though Pima Medical was a long commute, I had confidence in them so I enrolled in the MA program. I was pregnant, worked full time and had a long commute each day, but I did it! I feel like Pima Medical helped shape me into a resilient person. After graduation I worked at a hospital and a few other sites as an MA. But it wasn't long before I began to envision myself in administration, so I chose to complete the Health Care Administration online associate degree. That program gave me so much confidence and I loved it.
After graduating, I saw an opening for a Career Services Advisor at Pima Medical, applied, and got the job. Now, I get to guide students and share my journey with them. Watching them grow reminds me of my own transformation. Pima Medical has been a constant in my life, and I'm proud to be part of a team that changes lives every day.

After 12 years working primarily as a public health nurse at a Federally Qualified Health Center (BQHC) serving medically underserved populations, I became a supervisor at the Florida Department of Health. It was then that I realized that I needed to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to remain competitive in the job market. When I changed jobs, my new employer offered a deal I couldn't pass up; a FREE RN to BSN program, with the only contingency being that I remain with them 12 months after my degree attainment.
I was initially accepted at a much larger and well-known university for an online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, but the communication between myself and their recruiters left a lot to be desired, and as an older student who had never taken online classes, it spooked me. I searched and found Pima Medical Institute's online BSN program. I applied and was immediately welcomed by a veritable squad of people helping ease my fears and walk me through a new-to-me online educational experience. The director even called me personally to ensure the program fit my needs for maximum success. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA this past May, and I couldn't praise my professors or fellow students more! I had access to kind and
helpful staff even at odd hours, and it has helped me become so much more confident in my current practice.
My positive educational experience at Pima Medical has me seriously considering the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) online program. This is something that was never on my radar before and I know I would only want to tackle this goal with Pima Medical Institute.

When I got braces in high school, I was fascinated by how something so simple could transform a person's smile-and their confidence. That experience sparked my interest in the dental field, and after researching options, I found Pima Medical Institute's Dental Assistant (DA) program. I enrolled right after high school and jumped into the program.
My instructors were incredible! I never considered myself a standout student, but the hands-on learning style was perfect for me. I learned so much, and when it came time for my externship, it felt like a breeze because I was so prepared. They even offered me a job as soon as I finished, and I worked there happily until I moved out of state.
Since graduating in 2011, I've worked in every part of a dental office-from assisting to managing the front desk to being an office manager. Today, I'm a mom of two fast-growing kids, and I want more flexibility to be with them, so I'm going back to school for billing and coding. This will allow me to continue working in the dental field from home.
I love the dental field because I get to make a difference-helping patients find relief from pain or transforming their smiles - and I'm excited about the next chapter in my dental career. The opportunity to complete the program in just 18 months and start my dream job immediately was exactly what I was looking for.
