I chose the Physical Therapist Assistant program because of my own experience as a PT patient. I had both of my hips replaced from trauma that occurred while I was working as an EMT and fire fighter in 2008.
I was in a wheelchair for 3 years and I had to learn how to walk again. I had only been out of my wheelchair for 7 months before I began the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Pima Medical Institute. My education at PMI prepared me to enter the PTA field ready to work. I am now employed at Socorro Physical Therapy, where I completed a seven-week rotation as a student. The Physical Therapist I work for now was my personal Physical Therapist after my surgery.
Since graduating, I work a very full schedule and I also have the opportunity to travel all over the United States to gain more training in my field. I would definitely recommend PMI for people who want to train in the medical field. If you work hard and study hard it will change your life, like it changed mine.

I grew up in an unsupportive environment, constantly reminded of my limitations. After dabbling in community college and an unfinished nursing program, I found myself divorced with two young children, wondering what I could do to provide for my family. That's when I discovered Pima Medical Institute and enrolled in the Medical Secretary program. Within three months, I graduated and landed a job in the medical field, giving me the stability I desperately needed. After moving to Las Vegas, I continued to grow my career-first as an office manager and later doing billing. One day, I learned that Pima Medical was launching a Respiratory Therapy program. I jumped at the chance to enroll, excited to take my career to the next level.
Balancing school, work, and motherhood was tough. My kids and I would do homework together, and I showed them it's never too late to change your path. After graduating, I was hired at Summerlin Hospital, where I worked for 14 years. Watching the devastation in New York, when the pandemic hit in 2020, I knew I had to step up and help. I was hired as a traveler at New York Presbyterian Cornell, one of the top hospitals in the country. It was intense-over 230 patients on ventilators when I arrived -but I learned and grew through it all. While on the frontlines, I was also pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy through Pima Medical. I faced moments of doubt, but with the support of my program director, I pushed through. My son and I graduated with our bachelor's degrees in the same year-a moment of immense pride for my family.
I now work for the Nevada Donor Network, a new and upcoming field for RT's, turning tragedy into hope through organ donation. I feel a deep sense of purpose, knowing that I help give families a second chance. Thanks to Pima Medical, I've built a career that I love, and I'll never stop learning or growing.

I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field. I've never been a big fan of school, so I actually chose PMI because I wanted a program I could get through quickly and start my career. I loved my instructors, and had a great experience at Pima. I was hired upon graduation at the site where I had done my externship. However, when cutbacks began to occur, being the last one hired meant I was the first to go. Gratefully, I was able to leave on good terms.
I was hired by my current employer, Eagle Pointe Dentists and Orthodontics, as a dental assistant and within a short time became their lead DA. I have learned so much in this position. I'm basically the "go to girl" - I supervise the other assistants, order all supplies for the office, and make sure we're OSHA compliant. I've enjoyed training PMI externship students in our office, and have set up a system to help them feel comfortable and ease them into their role. After all, I know what it's like to be in their shoes. I love my job! Thanks PMI.

After a recent divorce my daughter asked me to move to Colorado Springs to care for her children while she went back to school. When I arrived she announced that while enrolling at PMI, she had made an appointment for me to meet with an advisor as well. I hadn't even considered going back to school, but when I went, I realized this was what I wanted to do. We started the same day. I went to morning classes for the Medical Assistant program, we handed off kids in the parking lot, and she attended afternoon classes for the Dental Assistant program. On the first day of class, I realized I was the oldest person there. I wasn't sure I could do it. But, the instructors were great, and I wanted to make my kids proud of me. Each day I gained more confidence.
Eventually, my daughter and I walked in the graduation ceremony together. We were both hired at our externship sites. In fact, on my last day of externship I only needed 3 more hours, so once I completed those I worked the remainder of my shift as an employee! My daughter and I both love our jobs, and we have been able to continue tag team caring for my grandkids. This whole experience has made me consider going back to school for a Nursing degree. Pima helped me realize I can do it. My daughter is starting school as a Dental Hygienist, and has set her goal on becoming a dentist.

I suffered from dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and dropped out of high school two months before graduation. I went on to raise two kids and ran the office for my husband's plumbing business. But once my kids graduated from high school, I decided I really wanted a career in the medical field.
After being out of school for 30 years, I just didn't have the confidence to get my GED and was afraid of failure. Pima Medical Institute and their partnership with Penn Foster offered me a way to be successful. The Penn Foster program provides an opportunity to earn your high school diploma and Pima Medical provides a classroom and an instructor for 4 hours a day while you learn online. Best of all, Pima Medical pays the tuition. I was able to complete my requirements, graduate within 6 weeks and transition directly into the 9 month Medical Assistant program at Pima Medical. I loved the MA program and my instructors. I was motivated and studied hard and am proud to say I graduated with a 4.0. I completed my externship at Tucson Orthopedic Institute (TOI) and not long after graduation, they called and offered me a position working for Dr. Evans in the Podiatry department. I love my job!
I highly recommend the Penn Foster program to others. It provides discipline by requiring you to attend classes and it gives you the confidence to learn the information. I would have failed without it. I'm so thankful for Pima Medical Institute - it's been nothing but positive. I finally have a career I love. If I can do it, anyone can!

I was a stay at home mom for 18 years. When my oldest child headed to college I felt like I had lost my identity and purpose, but I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I knew I didn't want to be behind a desk and I enjoyed being on my feet and using my hands. So when I saw the commercial for the Dental Assisting Program and Pima Medical Institute, I decided it might be a fit for me.
It was somewhat intimidating going back to school when I was the oldest student in the class and it was certainly challenging having homework again while balancing family and home life. But, my instructor was helpful and cheered me on.
I felt very prepared, although extremely nervous, for my hands on externship experience. But I learned so much and it helped me understand that I really wanted to work in a specialty area of dentistry. I was initially hired at a general practice but soon found the place I really belonged; a periodontist office. I absolutely love it! I enjoy meeting and getting to know my patients. I have great coworkers and wonderful doctors who continue to teach me about their specialty. I love it all and am so happy!
Pima Medical has been so good in helping me go from "what's my purpose?" to "this is where I should be!" Finding that out and being happy where I am has been everything. It has done so much for me! Plus, my kids are really proud of me.

Which program did you complete and what made you decide to continue your education online?
I was a reluctant participant in the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) program but became an enthusiastic student and graduate once it was all said and done. My prior undergraduate and graduate degrees were in fields unrelated to healthcare. My Campus Director (who is very supportive) had been encouraging me from the start to pursue a more advanced degree in what I was teaching. His very credible and legitimate thought process was that I should not have the same degree as my students when they graduate (i.e. an Associate of Applied Science). So my prime motivator was to be a better example to my students as well as be a more qualified employee.
What made you choose PMI's program?
It was a streamlined and easy-to-understand admissions process and very well priced relative to all the other similar bridge programs. I also appreciated the flexibility of pace. It was an accelerated program that allowed me to complete my degree between May-December of 2016 (Although I would not necessarily recommend that. See response below).
What was it like to manage a full-time position and your course load?
In one word: ROUGH! I thought I could take on a full load since (I'm all that!), but the program is not to be taken lightly, and I may have done exactly that (at my own peril). And candidly, there were times I got behind. But the Student Services Coordinator and Program Director were in constant communication and made every reasonable accommodation they could. In hindsight, I would have contemplated going a little slower. But again, they are willing to work with you and make changes to fit your needs
Did you feel like the coursework was practical for your profession?
Yes, the program is constantly evaluating and updating its curriculum to keep it germane to the current healthcare environment.
Would you encourage others to continue their education and would you recommend this program?
Yes, in today's fast-paced and dynamic world, a degree is migrating from a nice-to-have to a need-to-have. Especially, given recent economic circumstances, a candidate needs every advantage they can get. Start your degree as soon as possible. This is an investment that no one can ever take away from you and will yield dividends for life.

As a proud Pima Medical Institute BSRT graduate, my journey from an associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy (RT), to a bachelor's degree, to achieving my dream job as a Critical Care Transport Respiratory Therapist at Children's Mercy has been nothing short of remarkable. While in school for my associate's at Concorde College, they highly encouraged us to continue our education and recommended Pima Medical's online Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT). I knew a bachelor's would increase my salary and would also be helpful for future supervisory or management positions. The flexibility of online classes made it manageable for me to work full-time at Salem Health, a level II trauma center with a level III NICU, while pursuing my degree.
My dream of working in medical transport began at age 17, when I was a volunteer patient for the local fire department and experienced being flighted out of our neighborhood. After years of experience as an RT, I landed my dream job. As a Critical Care Transport RT, I participate in various types of transports, from helicopters and fixed wing, to jets and ground transportation, proving support to hospitals nationwide. Children's Mercy in Kansas City is one of the busiest transport teams, covering a wide range of patients including neonates, pediatrics, maternal and fetal cases. Working with limited resources challenges me to think on my feet and be creative with patient care. The transport team, comprised of brilliant minds, requires continuous education, certifications, and simulations to improve patient care. During my downtime, I enjoy visiting former patients and their families and witnessing their progress.
I love to do PR at community events where I hope to inspire young girls to pursue a fulfilling career in healthcare. I'm appreciative for the role Pima Medical played in shaping my success and making my dream job a reality.

After moving from Texas to Colorado for a fresh start, I was determined to build a stable career in the medical field. Research led me to Pima Medical Institute, and from the moment I began speaking with admissions, I knew it was the right choice. Despite facing many challenges, I embarked on the Medical Assistant (MA) program with unwavering determination.
I started living in my car three weeks after starting the MA program. I was juggling homelessness, school and a full-time job. I struggled finding safe places to park, hot and cold nights, and finding time between work and school to do homework, sleep and get to the gym to take showers. I found incredible support from caring and understanding instructors who became like family to me. They provided resources and encouragement, helping me navigate the toughest moments. As difficult as my situation was, school was my biggest motivation and the people at Pima Medical were my support and prepared me for my future. Thanks to great instructors and comprehensive training, I excelled at my externship at Advanced Urgent Care, impressing my supervisors enough to secure a job offer before even graduating.

My story is a bit unique in the way I came to Pima Medical Institute. I was in the Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Brightwood College in 2018 when it suddenly closed its doors. Pima Medical was willing to take those displaced students, so without other options I decided to give it a go. Since Pima Medical didn't have a CNA program, I chose their Medical Assistant (MA) program.
My experience at Pima Medical was exceptional! I had great instructors and I felt like I got a fantastic education. One specific thing I really appreciated about the curriculum was that we were able to learn all different aspects of the roles of our profession. For example, although I've never worked as a front office MA, I was able to learn those roles and understand their responsibilities as well.
Two days after finishing my program, I was on a plane moving to Colorado. I began applying for jobs as soon as I got settled and had no trouble finding a position. I was hired as an MA at Pueblo Community Health Center where I will soon be celebrating five years. Currently, I am also completing prerequisites so I can go back to school to achieve my dream of becoming an RN.
Pima Medical Institute has great programs and amazing instructors! I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a career in the medical field. If their location here in Colorado offered an RN program, I would already be signed up. I appreciate everything all of my instructors did for me and I wouldn't be where I am without them.

When I first started my journey in health care, I was on track to become a nurse. After working as a phlebotomist for three years, I quit my job focusing on finishing the last few prerequisites for nursing school. However, life had other plans. I got pregnant with my now four-year-old daughter and took a year and a half off to spend time with her. In 2020, I began to reconsider my career path. I realized that the clinical side of healthcare was no longer my passion; instead, I was drawn to the administration and business side. After researching various degrees, I chose the online Health Care Administration (HCA) associate and bachelor's programs at Pima Medical Institute.
My experience at Pima Medical was incredible. Both programs' flexibility and the support from instructors and advisors were exceptional. They fit perfectly into my busy life as a full-time employee, wife and mother. The instructors were always available and willing to assist with anything I needed. The resources provided to students, from class scheduling to financial guidance, made everything so manageable. Upon completion of my bachelor's degree, I found a position as a Program Administrator at Baylor University Medical Center in Texas, managing the OBGYN, Hematology/Oncology, and Mechanical Circulatory Support programs and residents. I am currently working full-time and exploring graduate programs for Health Care Administration and Business Administration. My future goals include becoming certified in health care emergency management to effectively plan and respond to emergencies.

After 12 years working primarily as a public health nurse at a Federally Qualified Health Center (BQHC) serving medically underserved populations, I became a supervisor at the Florida Department of Health. It was then that I realized that I needed to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to remain competitive in the job market. When I changed jobs, my new employer offered a deal I couldn't pass up; a FREE RN to BSN program, with the only contingency being that I remain with them 12 months after my degree attainment.
I was initially accepted at a much larger and well-known university for an online Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, but the communication between myself and their recruiters left a lot to be desired, and as an older student who had never taken online classes, it spooked me. I searched and found Pima Medical Institute's online BSN program. I applied and was immediately welcomed by a veritable squad of people helping ease my fears and walk me through a new-to-me online educational experience. The director even called me personally to ensure the program fit my needs for maximum success. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA this past May, and I couldn't praise my professors or fellow students more! I had access to kind and
helpful staff even at odd hours, and it has helped me become so much more confident in my current practice.
My positive educational experience at Pima Medical has me seriously considering the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) online program. This is something that was never on my radar before and I know I would only want to tackle this goal with Pima Medical Institute.
