After 15 years of employment with company I planned to retire from, I was let go due to the economic meltdown. I decided to go back to school and chose PMI. My biggest obstacle was overcoming my own lack of self-confidence. My first days as a student were very hectic, not only did I have to learn the course content, but I also had to learn how to become a student all over again. In the end, it was very rewarding and I had this overwhelming feeling of accomplishment that I had been missing in my life.
I arrived at each of my clinical sites with the motivation, drive and determination to become a medical professional. I was hired immediately after graduation at New Mexico Orthopedics and on my first day there, I received a phone call from The University of New Mexico Hospital. Based on my performance there as a student, they wanted to know if I would be interested in a position. I went from being a student to having two jobs within 30 days after graduation. I couldn't have been happier!
With the knowledge obtained through my work experience, I have recently moved into the Interventional Radiology department at UNMH. I've also recently completed my Bachelors of Radiologic Science through PMI's online program. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to all of my instructors for believing in me and always encouraging me. I would definitely recommend PMI to anyone who is planning to go back to school or is in need of a change in their life.

I completed my bachelor's degree in child development and worked at child care centers for a number of years, but something inside me always longed to be in the medical field. My dad was a physical therapist assistant and later became an RN, so I had lots of exposure to the medical field. But, it's very difficult to switch careers. After a coworker told me about Pima Medical Institute, I began taking steps to enroll in the Medical Assistant (MA) program. I was still working full-time so the hybrid MA program, which offered online learning and the opportunity to attend classes two nights a week, was exactly what I needed. I loved my experience as a student and appreciated my instructors. It was tough attending classes and working full-time, but I was diligent with my studies and disciplined myself to study on weekends. When it came time for my clinicals, I quit my child care job and began applying all I had learned in my classes at a family medicine clinic. The people I worked with really helped me and I was able to apply the skills I had learned, gain experience and also increase my confidence. It was probably my favorite part of my education.
Finding a job ended up being a lot easier than I had anticipated. I am currently working as an MA at Parker Pediatrics and Adolescence. I love my job! I am able to marry all my experience working with children and my new career in the medical field. I really enjoy the people I work with and it's providing me a ton of opportunities for further growth and learning. I'm not finished with education, so I am in the process of getting my bachelor of science in nursing. Pima Medical gave me my start in the medical field. Being able to work full time while obtaining my MA certificate was so worth it and provided a jumping off point for me into the medical field.

I was a truck driver and a blue collar worker. I went from job to job until I finally decided I needed a career. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but when I got to Pima Medical Institute they encouraged me to shadow someone at the hospital to learn more. One of their clinical instructors took me around the hospital and I was enamored with Respiratory Therapy and I signed up for the program.
I faced huge obstacles in school and really struggled, because I am a hands-on guy, not a book learner. Not to mention, while a student I was working four jobs and coaching my kid's sports teams. In my fourth semester we got a new clinical instructor who changed my life. If it were not for her, I would not have made it through the program. Amy Brown believed in me more than I believed in myself. I never thought I was smart until I got into this school. She has had a huge influence on my career.
After graduation I was hired at a hospital and within six months I was named senior therapist and later became a charge therapist. I am still working at that same hospital. I'm proud to say - PMI is a leader in Respiratory Therapy in the state of Colorado. They gave me an incredible education for which I'm thankful.

I had asthma as a kid, so I've always had a personal interested in respiratory. I moved to Houston and found PMI's Respiratory Therapy Program and decided to go for it. I found the atmosphere to be very positive and I loved coming to school every day. The instructors were helpful and made you feel like more than a student. They were even available to help with personal issues.
My instructors worked so hard to make sure I understand the material. I know I would not be as successful as I am today without my teachers. I was able to feel comfortable taking my board exams. I feel prepared starting my job. I know what I'm doing and I'm not afraid. As a student I was able to represent PM on the Sputum Bowl Team for 2 years. It was a great experience and really helped prepare me for my boards.
I recently graduated, passed my boards and have been hired at University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. It feels so good to be employed and I'm fulfilling my dream of working with cancer patients. I'm thankful for all my PMI instructors who worked so hard to prepare me for my new profession.

After spending time working with my aunt, a Physical Therapist in California, I decided to pursue a career as a Physical Therapy Assistant. I researched online and found the PTA program at the Pima Medical Institute in Tucson and moved to AZ to begin my program.
The program was challenging, but the instructors were amazing! They made it easy to come to them for help and it, actually, felt like a family. After graduation, I was hired at Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ, where I had completed one of my clinical rotations. They say your clinicals are like an extended job interview and they are right.
About 5 months into my job, I saw a patient who showed some physical signs that concerned me. I informed the PT of my concerns and the patient was referred to her primary care doctor. She was given the OK to resume therapy and she came to me again. Again, based on my observations, we determined she should see a cardiologist. After passing all the tests, she returned a third time but, again, seeing her symptoms, I was uncomfortable treating her. So, I walked her down to the ER where they found serious concerns that may have caused her death if I had done therapy with her.
PMI taught us to look for symptoms and stand our ground. Despite being a new clinician, I had the knowledge and confidence to give my patient an opportunity to have an improved outcome. The hospital acknowledged my actions and doctors stopped me in the hall to express their appreciation. I'm so thankful for the amazing education I received at PMI!

In 2012 I was in a bad accident and spent time in the hospital. This experience enabled me to observe the nurses and see how they cared for people. I had been working as a team lead at Target for a number of years but I decided that I wanted to do more than help people spend money, so I began pursuing the medical field. I started as a CNA and after 4 years decided I wanted to attend school to become an LPN.
I heard about Pima Medical Institute on the radio and got excited about attending their Practical Nursing program. I have to admit my first sequence of classes was really challenging! The whole program was a huge learning experience for me, but my hard work paid off. I appreciated how the whole program was laid out ahead of time, including our course work and the schedule. This really helped us be successful.
I was offered a job at my clinical site. The administrator took notice of me and offered me a position as a unit manager, not your typical first job as an LPN. I believe Pima Medical helped me develop a level of confidence that made a difference in obtaining this position. Recently, I was contacted by another facility and offered a job as another unit manager. I am honored and proud that in such a short time my education and hard work has provided opportunities for growth in my career. Pima Medical prepared me to be successful. The encouragement and support I got from my instructors was just overwhelming, and it's an experience I am always going to cherish.

I was in my early 20's, ready to complete a degree in finance when I realized I really didn't want to spend my life sitting behind a desk. I had a few family members working in the radiography field and I noticed they not only had a great career, but they could choose to work in different modalities and had lots of variety in their jobs. I began researching, found Pima Medical Institute's Radiography program and enrolled.
I had wonderful instructors! It's an intense and tough program, but the way the program is structured really makes you feel prepared for your profession. I enjoyed the shorter rotations for clinicals which exposed me to many different areas and modalities. Once I knew what I was looking for, I was able to complete multiple rotations in my area of interest which prepared me for a job at that very location. I was hired at University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH) and after a year I was promoted to a charge technologist and almost 2 years ago I moved into the role of General Radiology Supervisor. I love the fast-paced environment at UNMH. We're the only trauma one hospital in the state and we see something new every day. I'm not the only Pima Medical graduate in my department, we currently have five employees that were my classmates and each year I hire multiple new Pima Medical new graduates.
Pima Medical provided a great education and really prepared me for the field.

I was working at ATI Physical Therapy as a PT Technician and struggling to get into Physical Therapy school. I heard good things about Pima Medical Institute's Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program through some of my coworkers who had attended the program, so I decided to give it a try and enrolled. I had already obtained my bachelor's degree in Physiology from the University of Arizona, so I had a good foundation. This didn't mean the PTA program was easy, as the curriculum goes into considerable depth and the teachers expected true understanding of the topics. My instructors really pressed the "why" behind everything we did. This gave us the tools to be able to accurately perform proper interventions and gave us a foundation to be able to answer patient's questions with accuracy.
After graduation, I was able to continue working at ATI and transition to a Physical Therapist Assistant position. After the first year, I knew I wanted to be in a leadership position and underwent training for another year. I'm proud to say, I was recently promoted to the Clinical Director at our north Tucson ATI location.
I just want to thank my instructors for driving us to be the best clinicians that we could be and giving us that foundation to excel. I would 100% recommend Pima Medical Institute's PTA program. It is a quality program with quality instructors.

After earning a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology, I struggled to find a job and ended up in finance. When COVID hit, my new job offer was rescinded and I was forced to take a job at a grocery store bakery, far from my career goals. I kept hearing advertisements for Pima Medical Institute which piqued my interest in the medical field. This led me to enroll in their three-month Phlebotomy program, allowing me to work and study simultaneously with minimal school commitment. It was a way to dip-my-toe into the water of the medical field.
The Phlebotomy program was a turning point in my life. Small classes, hands-on experience, and an excellent instructor, Miss Denise, made a significant impact. I soon secured a position at Chandler Regional Hospital, where I interacted with various departments and realized my passion for patient care. Nursing stood out as the most versatile and impactful role, prompting me to pursue a nursing degree at the institute I trusted and I enrolled at Pima Medical's Mesa Campus. The Nursing program was challenging and intense, pushing me to grow and become accountable for patient care. Through diverse clinical experiences, I gravitated towards ER and ICU settings. I've recently accepted a position at OBS Banner Dessert, aiming to transfer to the ICU and eventually join the trauma team.
I am immensely grateful for my education at Pima Medical. The Phlebotomy program provided a crucial foundation, giving me the framework I needed for a career in the medical field. I invited Miss Denise to my nursing pinning ceremony and my dad told her COVID had been difficult for me and she had saved my life. He was right, Pima Medical Institute truly changed my life.

My story is a bit unique in the way I came to Pima Medical Institute. I was in the Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Brightwood College in 2018 when it suddenly closed its doors. Pima Medical was willing to take those displaced students, so without other options I decided to give it a go. Since Pima Medical didn't have a CNA program, I chose their Medical Assistant (MA) program.
My experience at Pima Medical was exceptional! I had great instructors and I felt like I got a fantastic education. One specific thing I really appreciated about the curriculum was that we were able to learn all different aspects of the roles of our profession. For example, although I've never worked as a front office MA, I was able to learn those roles and understand their responsibilities as well.
Two days after finishing my program, I was on a plane moving to Colorado. I began applying for jobs as soon as I got settled and had no trouble finding a position. I was hired as an MA at Pueblo Community Health Center where I will soon be celebrating five years. Currently, I am also completing prerequisites so I can go back to school to achieve my dream of becoming an RN.
Pima Medical Institute has great programs and amazing instructors! I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a career in the medical field. If their location here in Colorado offered an RN program, I would already be signed up. I appreciate everything all of my instructors did for me and I wouldn't be where I am without them.

I have always had an interest in the medical field, but had no idea where to begin. My brother went to Pima Medical Institute for the Veterinary Technician program, which led me to look into the school. After my first tour, I knew it was the place for me and I enrolled in the Medical Assistant (MA) program.
My student experience was amazing! I had fantastic instructors and got so much hands-on experience in such a short amount of time. At first, it was difficult to balance full-time school while working, but I loved what I was learning so much that putting in the work was something I was more than willing to do. I loved getting to practice my hands-on skills with my classmates. Doing things like injections and blood draws on real people truly prepares you for real patients.
I graduated from Pima Medical with a 4.0 GPA, and as soon as I started to apply for jobs, the offers were rolling in! I ultimately chose to work at University of Washington Medical Center because it seemed like the best opportunity for me, and it definitely has been. Since graduating, I have been working at UW for the last year. I have learned so much and have never been more confident in a job.
Getting my education at Pima Medical Institute was truly one of the best decisions I have ever made. It prepared me so much for my future and made stepping into a new role a piece of cake. I would highly recommend Pima Medical to others seeking to change their lives.

I knew since I was a child that I wanted to be in the medical field. When it came time for me to graduate from high school, I wasn't interested in a four-year college or university because I just wanted to jump right into the workforce as soon as possible and begin my career in the medical field. After explaining this to my gramma, she recommended Pima Medical Institute. We visited together and took a tour; I knew then that the nine-month Medical Assistant (MA) program was the best fit for me.
My experience as a student was amazing! The MA program is an accelerated program and while you're learning lots of information in a short time, the hands-on practice helps you apply your skills and prepares you for the profession. All the nerves, tears and anxiousness were so worth it. I was so well prepared for my six-week externship that I was offered a position as an MA upon completion. I am still employed there and I recently began going back to school to obtain my associates in Nursing with plans to continue on to get my bachelor's (BSN) degree.
I want to say thank you to every single one of my instructors. Pima Medical changed my life, and I will always be grateful for the education I received, the lifelong relationships I built with my instructors and classmates, and the lasting career it has given me.
