After 12 years as a dental assistant I knew there was more for me in the dental profession. When I heard PMI was offering a Dental Hygiene program, I jumped at the opportunity! I am a 35 year old parent of two boys and the thought of quitting my job to attend school was quite daunting, but I forged ahead and was committed. The Dental Hygiene program was an accelerated, challenging opportunity and despite the sweat, tears, countless study sessions, long nights of studying and many other sacrifices, I completed the program and became a Board Certified Registered Dental Hygienist!
I appreciated my education at PMI and was continually impressed by the knowledge and willingness of the instructors and administration to ensure my educational success. I was prepared in every way, from classroom, to clinical lab, to my job! After passing my boards, I had three job offers! Since graduation I have been employed in an amazing dental office doing what I love! I am even considering furthering my career goals by attending PMI for a bachelor's degree.
I am so grateful for everything PMI and my instructors have done for me. I was even given a once in a lifetime opportunity to practice my profession on a missionary trip to Africa provided by the CEO of PMI, Mr. Richard Luebke, Jr. PMI truly cares for their students and provides opportunities not available anywhere else. I completed my bachelor's degree in child development and worked at child care centers for a number of years, but something inside me always longed to be in the medical field. My dad was a physical therapist assistant and later became an RN, so I had lots of exposure to the medical field. But, it's very difficult to switch careers. After a coworker told me about Pima Medical Institute, I began taking steps to enroll in the Medical Assistant (MA) program. I was still working full-time so the hybrid MA program, which offered online learning and the opportunity to attend classes two nights a week, was exactly what I needed. I loved my experience as a student and appreciated my instructors. It was tough attending classes and working full-time, but I was diligent with my studies and disciplined myself to study on weekends. When it came time for my clinicals, I quit my child care job and began applying all I had learned in my classes at a family medicine clinic. The people I worked with really helped me and I was able to apply the skills I had learned, gain experience and also increase my confidence. It was probably my favorite part of my education.
Finding a job ended up being a lot easier than I had anticipated. I am currently working as an MA at Parker Pediatrics and Adolescence. I love my job! I am able to marry all my experience working with children and my new career in the medical field. I really enjoy the people I work with and it's providing me a ton of opportunities for further growth and learning. I'm not finished with education, so I am in the process of getting my bachelor of science in nursing. Pima Medical gave me my start in the medical field. Being able to work full time while obtaining my MA certificate was so worth it and provided a jumping off point for me into the medical field.

I always wanted to go into healthcare, but I knew I would need to go to college, which I couldn't afford. I decided to go into the military in order to help achieve my educational goal. I spent four years in the Navy working as a trouble shooter on the flight deck of a nuclear aircraft carrier. Our carrier was the first to respond to the attacks in New York. I am proud to say we arrived outside the New York harbor the morning of September 12th as a show of support.
After the military, I tried college, joined the Army National Guard, and continued my search for opportunities in the medical field. After a series of setbacks, I finally decided to begin as a dental assistant with the hope of ultimately being a dental hygienist. A friend introduced me to the dental hygiene program at Pima Medical Institute and I never looked back. The best thing about PMI is that it is a tight knit group of people, similar to the military. A group of strangers end up becoming your peers, your friends, and eventually, your family. I never experienced that at community college. The friends I have made at school are ones I have made for life. Without my instructors and my peers, I wouldn't be who I am today.
The training I received at PMI truly helped prepare me more than any other training I have ever received. I now have my dream job! My overall experience at PMI was amazing; their commitment to excellence has allowed me to be successful. It can only get better from here!

I had been working in both electric retail and bank retail but wanted a health care career when I heard the commercial for Pima Medical Institute. I have family members who are nurses and physicians, and I have always wanted to be part of that history, but I have a fear of blood and needles. I decided now was the time to face my fears and I enrolled in the Medical Assistant program at PMI.
There were many obstacles for me to overcome and school did not come easy. I had graduated from high school in the Philippines and English is my second language. In addition, I was busy working full-time and attending evening classes. My husband helped with my fear of needles by visiting me at PMI allowing me to practice on his arms. Thanks to the excellent PMI instructors, the hands on practice with my husband, and the support of my classmates, I was able to overcome my fears and become a successful Medical Assistant!
I work for the University of Washington Eastside Specialty Center in various specialties. I enjoy my job and they value me as an employee. I am now taking prerequisites toward my nursing degree. My manager is very supportive of my career goals and is helping arrange my work schedule to accomplish my goals.
I owe a huge thanks to my husband and his never ending support. But, I would not be where I am today without PMI. From the smiles at the front desk, to the guidance of admissions and financial aid, to my amazing instructors, to the career services counseling: they are the reason for my success!

I have been a Medical Assistant for almost 10 years and I love it! How did I get here? One day my aunt asked me to google a medical question for her. I found her answer in minutes, but I was fascinated reading about the body and how it functioned and got distracted for over an hour. That was the day I began considering a career in the medical field. Not long after, I saw a commercial for Pima Medical Institute and enrolled in their Medical Assistant program. While figuring out my financial aid, I learned it might be helpful if others from my family were in college. I went home and asked my sister if she wanted to do the MA program with me and she said, "OK!" We worked side by side throughout the program, pushed each other and both graduated with honors!
I had an amazing experience at Pima Medical! The teachers were phenomenal! Some of them were tough, but I learned so much and felt 100% prepared for my career in the medical field. I have worked for several companies and have been a Lead MA at three different locations. I really enjoy training new MA's; in fact I have trained over 15 MAs from Pima Medical. I'm currently enjoying working at a testing center where there is lots of variety and I get to meet different patients every day.
I am so glad I found this rewarding career. I recommend Pima Medical all the time because they provide the one-on-one instruction students need to be successful. There are days I feel like I use every single skill I learned at Pima Medical. I love my job and the satisfactory feeling I get from helping others!

Before attending Pima Medical Institute, I worked in the restaurant industry for eight 8 years. I had several surgeries, which prompted an interest in the medical field, and I began looking for a radiography program. I was excited to find no waiting list for Pima Medical's Radiography associate degree and I enrolled. My instructors were some of the most incredible people and they made learning easy and fun. My classmates were a huge help and my clinicals really shaped me into the technologist I have become. I loved that during my clinicals I could do anything, as opposed to students from other schools who were limited in what they were allowed to do.
I had a job offer before I even graduated and worked in pain management clinics and orthopedic offices over the next few years. I hit a burn out point during COVID and feeling overworked, decided I wanted to pursue a different health care position. Every job I inquired about required a bachelor's degree so I enrolled in Pima Medical's online Health Care Administration Bachelor's program, knowing it would help me move into a management role. I enjoyed my classes and my capstone project pulled it all together and helped me understand the worth and value of all my papers and projects. While in the program I landed a remote position as a Post Process 3D Technologist. I take nationwide CT and MRI images and, using special software, I prepare 3D images for the radiologist. I am confident my bachelor's degree will assist me in growing with this new company.
Pima Medical was so worth it because it led me into a stable career path with a great future. I tell everyone to go to a career college. I don't know where I would be if I hadn't taken that first step.

As a proud Pima Medical Institute BSRT graduate, my journey from an associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy (RT), to a bachelor's degree, to achieving my dream job as a Critical Care Transport Respiratory Therapist at Children's Mercy has been nothing short of remarkable. While in school for my associate's at Concorde College, they highly encouraged us to continue our education and recommended Pima Medical's online Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT). I knew a bachelor's would increase my salary and would also be helpful for future supervisory or management positions. The flexibility of online classes made it manageable for me to work full-time at Salem Health, a level II trauma center with a level III NICU, while pursuing my degree.
My dream of working in medical transport began at age 17, when I was a volunteer patient for the local fire department and experienced being flighted out of our neighborhood. After years of experience as an RT, I landed my dream job. As a Critical Care Transport RT, I participate in various types of transports, from helicopters and fixed wing, to jets and ground transportation, proving support to hospitals nationwide. Children's Mercy in Kansas City is one of the busiest transport teams, covering a wide range of patients including neonates, pediatrics, maternal and fetal cases. Working with limited resources challenges me to think on my feet and be creative with patient care. The transport team, comprised of brilliant minds, requires continuous education, certifications, and simulations to improve patient care. During my downtime, I enjoy visiting former patients and their families and witnessing their progress.
I love to do PR at community events where I hope to inspire young girls to pursue a fulfilling career in healthcare. I'm appreciative for the role Pima Medical played in shaping my success and making my dream job a reality.

While facing setbacks in my undergraduate BSPS (Bachelors in Science of Pharmaceutical Science) program due to grade issues, I decided to step away. My advisor from the University of Arizona (UA) suggested I apply to Pima Medical Institute's Pharmacy Technician program. From the moment I stepped into the program, I knew I was in the right place. I had wonderful instructors to help guide me on the path of reaching my goal. I enjoyed meeting new and different people, each with their own unique story. Probably the biggest obstacle I faced was the poor performance that was lingering from my time at UA and wanting to show that I wasn't the reason for not doing well there. I'm proud to say I cleared that hurdle and finished my program with a 4.0 GPA.
One of the most invaluable aspects of Pima Medical was the accessibility of instructors for one-on-one guidance and always knowing I could easily ask questions and get help. This bolstered my confidence during my externship, enabling me to be comfortable with my colleagues and have the confidence to ask questions. I was thrilled to receive a job offer from Banner University Medical Center Tucson. My time there as an extern showcased my capabilities, earning me a position as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
I owe immense gratitude to my instructors Shaun, Sara and Grace for their unwavering support and dedication to my success. Pima Medical Institute is able to offer opportunities to those that believe they don't deserve it, when in reality they do!

My story is a bit unique in the way I came to Pima Medical Institute. I was in the Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Brightwood College in 2018 when it suddenly closed its doors. Pima Medical was willing to take those displaced students, so without other options I decided to give it a go. Since Pima Medical didn't have a CNA program, I chose their Medical Assistant (MA) program.
My experience at Pima Medical was exceptional! I had great instructors and I felt like I got a fantastic education. One specific thing I really appreciated about the curriculum was that we were able to learn all different aspects of the roles of our profession. For example, although I've never worked as a front office MA, I was able to learn those roles and understand their responsibilities as well.
Two days after finishing my program, I was on a plane moving to Colorado. I began applying for jobs as soon as I got settled and had no trouble finding a position. I was hired as an MA at Pueblo Community Health Center where I will soon be celebrating five years. Currently, I am also completing prerequisites so I can go back to school to achieve my dream of becoming an RN.
Pima Medical Institute has great programs and amazing instructors! I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a career in the medical field. If their location here in Colorado offered an RN program, I would already be signed up. I appreciate everything all of my instructors did for me and I wouldn't be where I am without them.

In 2005, while browsing technical programs online, Pima Medical Institute's Veterinary Assistant (VA) Program caught my eye. I filled out a request for more information and, to my surprise, Niki Riggleman, a recently retired yet highly esteemed instructor, called me immediately. Despite never having had an interest in veterinary medicine before, that call changed my life. I can't imagine being in any other field today and I'm so grateful Niki called me!
I completed the VA Program and returned to complete the Veterinary Technician (VT) Program in 2007. It was a privilege to be part of the very first VT class at the Seattle Campus. One aspect of Pima Medical I truly appreciated was its accessibility; the ability to attend night classes and work during the day allowed me to maintain a steady income while pursuing my education. The hands-on classroom experience, combined with working in the field, was crucial to my professional growth.
My journey with VCA Animal Hospitals began with my first externship, where I was hired even before completing it. Almost 20 years later, I'm still with VCA and grateful to have found my place there. I worked as a VA, a VT and then quickly moved up to Technician Supervisor and a regional training role. In 2020, I became the Regional Technician Director for the Northwest & Hawaii Group, supporting veterinary teams across five states. Additionally, as the current President of the Washington State Association of Veterinary Technicians (WSAVT) and a former District Chair for the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA), I am dedicated to improving the careers of Veterinary Technicians and Assistants. Ensuring their optimal utilization and safety is crucial to our profession, helping us continue to serve our patients effectively.

I was looking for a change from my previous jobs in food service and explored various community colleges in Seattle. After considering culinary arts, I decided to pursue a healthcare career where I knew jobs were more in demand. I chose Pima Medical Institute because the stories from previous graduates resonated with me. They were just like me, seeking change and career advancement. Despite having no prior knowledge or experience in pharmacy, I chose the Pharmacy Technician program to challenge myself.
My experience at Pima Medical was fun and engaging. The courses, from Career Prep to the Pharmacy Technician classes, were well planned. I learned everything I needed to succeed. The biggest challenge was balancing homework and projects with a full-time job, but it was worth it. The support from the staff at Pima's Renton campus was invaluable. The admissions and financial aid advisors helped me with my FAFSA, easing my financial worries. My Career Prep instructor made learning exciting and engaging. The staff provided support and organized stress-relieving activities like the Halloween costume contest. My instructor imparted all the pharmacy knowledge I needed and now apply daily in my work.
Since graduating from Pima Medical in 2018, I worked at ReadyMeds for nearly four years and I've spent the last several years working as a Specialty Pharmacy Technician at Kaiser Permanente of Washington. I highly recommend Pima Medical Institute for the support and programs they offer to help you achieve your goals and succeed in your career. I spent nearly seven years working as a Medical Assistant (MA) before I finally decided to continue my education and complete the Radiography program at Pima Medical Institute. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was my commute - I live in Colorado Springs, so this was a 74-mile drive each way to attend class at the Denver Campus. That meant spending at least two and a half hours a day just on the road, in addition to my coursework, clinicals and job at UCHealth.
The instructors at Pima Medical were incredible. They were more than just educators-they were mentors who believed in me, even when I doubted myself. The program was challenging, but it was also incredibly rewarding. I loved every moment of it, and I genuinely believe that the hands-on, real-world experience I gained during my time there has set me up for success in my new career.
One of the most exciting parts of this journey was being hired to work for both UCHealth and Penrad Imaging before even completing my program. I was offered a full-time position at Penrad Imaging and later, I was hired as a PRN at UCHealth. It was a huge confidence boost, knowing that I was already making an impact in the field even before passing my ARRT registry exam.
Now, I'm officially a Radiologic Technologist, and I couldn't be more excited to start this new chapter of my career. Every challenge, every late night, every moment of doubt was worth it. Thank you Pima Medical!
