I had worked in a totally different industry for 15 years, but my wife always encouraged me to get into health care. When I discovered that in two years I could have a new career as a PTAI, I decided to enroll in PMI. Going to school and keeping up with all the new information while managing a family was difficult. It was an intense program, but the way they have it structured provided me with the knowledge base I needed. They set the bar really high and we rose to it. PMI gave me the opportunity to be on the board for PTWA (Physical Therapy Association of Washington). I was chosen to be the student liaison for the state of WA. The relationships I've made through that experience have opened many doors for me. One of the vice presidents of the board suggested I look into a hospital setting for a job. That lead to my current position as a PTA at Northwest Hospital in Seattle. I work on all the floors including - ICU, special care, psych, medical floor, surgical floor, and neuro. I am able to participate in many levels of care. Being in acute care is a great opportunity. I'm very happy with my job. The sky's the limit for me! Thanks PMI!

After graduating from high school, I attended UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso) but despite attempting a number of majors, I still didn't have a plan. The thing that brought me joy was volunteering at the shelter where I adopted my dog. I really loved working with the animals and it made me realize that's what I was meant to do. I began researching schools with a veterinary program around El Paso and found Pima Medical Institute and enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant program. I cannot tell you how excited and joyful I was to finally start on a path to a career I knew I would love! I had a great experience during my 9-month program. My instructor was wonderful and I received lots of hands-on practice. I was placed in Boerne, near San Antonio, at the Cibolo Creek Veterinary Hospital for my externship and before I left to head back to El Paso, they offered me a position! After almost three years as a Veterinary Assistant I decided to continue my education and enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program, this time at the Pima Medical in San Antonio. I have been learning so much and am enjoying getting exposure in different areas like exotics and livestock. I appreciate my instructors sharing their experiences and providing hands-on instruction. I plan to graduate later this year. I love the veterinary field and I am so thankful to Pima Medical for providing a path to a great career that I love!

I fell into sales a long time ago and had a good job working in the petroleum industry. But after a time, I became tired of my job being about the next sale and money; I wanted to help people on a more personal level. With the support of my wife and the patience of my children, I was able to make a career change. I chose Pima Medical Institute's Radiography Program over other programs because I didn't need any prerequisites and could start immediately. I had prior educational experiences at a number of community colleges and universities, but Pima Medical was by far the best educational experience of my life. Everyone cared for and supported the students and it was a close knit community. They gave us a knowledge base and prepared us for our clinical experiences, where I felt totally confident. During our last semester, the career services department helped us get our resumes ready, and when I posted mine on Indeed and LinkedIn, I started getting hits immediately. I got a position at a pain clinic where they hired me on the spot and gave me the wages I was expecting. I do fluoroscopy; allowing the doctor to see what's going on inside the patient while he is doing pain injections. I love my job and I feel really appreciated! My whole experience at Pima Medical was good from the moment I completed the online form and got a call from a knowledgeable representative, to admissions and financial aid, to my program director and administration and all the way to the custodial staff. I love them all and can't thank them enough. They made an impact on my life and the life of my kids and my family. Thank you Pima Medical!

I was a waitress for 10 years and felt like I was going nowhere, stuck in a rut. While lying on the couch one day I saw a commercial for Pima Medical Institute. As soon as it was over I called the campus and set up an appointment. Once my admissions advisor showed me the Respiratory Therapy lab and I saw how hands-on it was, I immediately enrolled. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but my instructors were amazing and it was worth it! One of the greatest experiences during my time at Pima Medical was the opportunity to be part of their Sputum Bowl Team, a Jeopardy type game using respiratory questions. Our team won at the state level and then headed to Las Vegas where we won the national championship! The experience provided great networking and exposure for all of us new graduates. In fact, after the championship I met a department educator from the University of Colorado (U of C) and I took the opportunity to tell her I was hoping to get a job there. She encouraged me to contact her once I'd applied and I was later hired and am still working there today. I am a certified preceptor, a co-chair of our guideline committee, and most importantly, I absolutely love my job! Working at a level one trauma center means we have been a base for COVID patients. It has been super busy, hectic, and stressful and yet, we've had so many success stories of people walking out of the hospital when we thought they might not make it. I went from going to a job I hated, to a job I LOVE! My life has done a 180. I'm so thankful for Pima Medical Institute and every one of my instructors. I am just so grateful!

After being a truck driver and construction worker for 20 plus years, I made a promise to my mother before she died that I would go back to school. For nearly five years I passed Pima Medical Institute on my daily drive, and finally found the courage to pull in and take the pretest for the Nursing program. Going back to school at age 50 was scary, but I loved the atmosphere, the instructors and my classmates at Pima Medical. The instructors did an exceptional and extraordinary job preparing us for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). I applied at Banner Desert in Mesa where I had completed my clinicals and I was hired. It was 2019, and I was immediately thrown into the COVID Pandemic. A year later I decided to become a traveling nurse. Initially, I worried I might not be qualified enough or have enough experience, but I quickly got over that. Every place is different, but most of the core staff really appreciates the relief that travelers provide. I have been to 10 different places in four years. I'm considered a Banner Staffing Traveler within the Banner facilities nationwide and I call Banner Tucson my home, as it is where I spend the most time. Some of the challenges of being a traveler are finding a place to live and being away from family and friends. But, I am getting experience and confidence in different facilities and becoming more adaptable and flexible in my career. Plus, I am making a great salary. Pima Medical Institute changed my life forever. I made some lifelong friends during my experience, I had some incredible, humble, giving and caring instructors and I am truly grateful!

I had an amazing experience in the Medical Assistant (MA) program at Pima Medical Institute. I had the best instructors and, as we spent time studying together, my classmates became amazing friends. I had always known I wanted to be in a profession where I could help people and I wanted to work with children. My older sister had completed the Veterinary Technician (VT) program at Pima Medical, so I knew it was a school I could trust and enrolled in the MA program. I appreciated all the knowledge and information they gave us about working in the real world. The hands-on experience helped us feel prepared for our new career. Since graduating in 2018 I have worked for three clinics or organizations as an MA and have gained experience in family practice, OB/GYN and specialty clinics and have learned so much! I love my job! Every day is different and I am constantly learning new things. I am so very grateful for my instructors at Pima Medical for helping me to be able to achieve my dream job. I love what I do and I am so grateful I took the leap to enroll in the Medical Assistant (MA) program.

When I got braces in high school, I was fascinated by how something so simple could transform a person's smile-and their confidence. That experience sparked my interest in the dental field, and after researching options, I found Pima Medical Institute's Dental Assistant (DA) program. I enrolled right after high school and jumped into the program. My instructors were incredible! I never considered myself a standout student, but the hands-on learning style was perfect for me. I learned so much, and when it came time for my externship, it felt like a breeze because I was so prepared. They even offered me a job as soon as I finished, and I worked there happily until I moved out of state. Since graduating in 2011, I've worked in every part of a dental office-from assisting to managing the front desk to being an office manager. Today, I'm a mom of two fast-growing kids, and I want more flexibility to be with them, so I'm going back to school for billing and coding. This will allow me to continue working in the dental field from home. I love the dental field because I get to make a difference-helping patients find relief from pain or transforming their smiles - and I'm excited about the next chapter in my dental career. Pima Medical is an amazing place with caring instructors and I would choose it all over again. It's changed my life.

After running a travel agency for fifteen years, I began searching for a new career in the medical field. I'd always been interested in photography, so radiology seemed like a natural fit. At 43, I returned to school to earn my associate degree in Radiologic Science. I gained experience working at a regional hospital in Minnesota, learning X-ray, CT, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. Then in 2014, my husband and I, looking to fulfill our dream, moved to Alaska where I became a multi-modality technologist with Providence in Seward. Eventually, I stepped into the role of Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor, leading a $1.8 million department remodel to improve patient care. Upgrading our equipment to include a new CT scanner and digital X-ray systems has enabled us to offer year-round mammography, allowing for earlier breast cancer detection and better outcomes. In 2023, my love for learning led me to Pima Medical Institute, where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science (BSRS) online. Graduating with honors was a major accomplishment. I was especially impressed with the instructors and the quality of education at Pima Medical, and I'm proud to be a graduate. We are a critical care access hospital that sees patients from around the world. Tourists visit our community for various reasons, such as sport fishing, sightseeing, mountain hiking, mountain biking and cruise ships. This year we had ninety-six cruise ships bringing thousands of passengers on and off the ship. In my role, I often meet patients on one of the toughest days of their lives. My goal is to make a difference for them. I'm grateful for the skills and support from Pima Medical that has allowed me to provide the best care possible.

Before going back to school, my life wasn't on the best path. After high school, I planned to become a nurse, but deep down I knew it wasn't what I really wanted. Eventually, I moved out on my own, but I found myself surrounded by the wrong people and making choices I wasn't proud of. It wasn't until I met my fiance that I seriously considered going back to school. He encouraged me to think about my future and what would truly make me happy. After some soul-searching, I decided to look for a Dental Assistant program - and for the first time, I felt excited about my future. I found Pima Medical Institute through an online search, and after seeing so many great reviews from alumni, I knew it was the right place for me. Enrolling was the best decision I could have made. My experience at Pima Medical was nothing short of amazing - the support from my classmates, instructors, and family kept me going. My instructor, Margarita, was especially supportive. In fact, I wouldn't have made it through without her guidance. I was excited for my externship at Associates in Family Dentistry and grateful to be hired upon completion. As I plan to move soon, I'm holding off on furthering my education for now, but I'm eager to explore my options. I am a proud graduate of Pima Medical and my ultimate goal is to build a successful career while growing my family with my fiance.
