I started the Medical Assistant program at Pima Medical Institute just weeks after graduating from high school. To be honest, I really didn't have a plan and was just hoping to have some down time and find a job. My brother told me about Pima Medical and pushed me to go with him to check it out. We toured the campus, took the entrance test, met with financial aid and both enrolled in the program. It was literally life changing! I knew it was going to be a challenge since I knew very little about the medical field or human anatomy, but I learned how to study and retain knowledge. It is an accelerated program, but I kept my pace and really thrived with all the physical hands-on instruction. My externship was fantastic! I was able to apply what I had been learning at Pima Medical and each day became more confident. As a brand new graduate, I was pretty concerned about finding a job. But in my very first job interview, I answered their questions, listened and made sure to complement their organization and two hours later they called and offered me a position. I am currently a medical assistant and endoscopy technician in a gastroenterology office and I love my patients. I enjoy talking with them and making them laugh and really enjoy seeing them improve. I'm considering going back to Pima Medical to complete one of their associate/bachelor degree programs. I'm grateful to my instructors like Gene Rathburn, who made learning fun. Everything I do is because of what he taught me. Here I am 22 years old with a career in the medical field and it feels great!

I am from a very large family, one of my parents was undocumented and we often struggled financially, but I feel like the way they raised me has gotten me where I am today. I have a successful career, I am financially stable and I love my job! After graduating from high school, I didn't really have a plan. One day my cousin invited me to come along to check out Pima Medical Institute. After touring the school and realizing they had a Dental Assistant program, I applied that same day and enrolled. I appreciated that our instructor was an actual dentist and gave us his expertise and tips on how to become a better assistant and I enjoyed all the hands-on practice. One of my biggest obstacles was that I didn't have transportation to school, so I'd have to ask for rides or even use Uber at times. But Pima Medical helped me with resources and they even provided bus passes, which was really helpful. I also want to thank my husband for his support and encouragement. I was offered a job at the clinic where I completed my externship and recently, I was given a raise and promoted to a new position. My mom is so happy and proud of me and my new career. My dad, sadly, passed away but I know he would be proud as he wanted me to get an education. I have already started taking classes to get my prerequisites to become a Dental Hygienist and my eventual goal is to become a Dentist. I am striving to become more. Pima Medical provides hands-on training, flexible hours and all the resources you need to be successful.

My military career was coming to an end in 2012 and I had two young children to provide for. I've always had an interest in the medical field, so when I saw a commercial for Pima Medical Institute, I decided to enroll in the Medical Assistant (MA) program. On my first day in the program I found myself questioning my decision. Many of my classmates were much younger than I was, plus I hadn't been in school for years. Not to mention, I was working a full-time job and raising two small children while attending classes and studying. But, the one thing I appreciated about my education at Pima Medical was the encouragement my instructors gave me and others. They not only provided needed advice and support, they prepared me well for my career. My first job wasn't a great fit, so I signed up with a hiring agency who sent me to different locations as needed. One of those was a small family practice that just felt like family to me. They appreciated me so much, they hired me, bought out my contract and provided me with a very good salary. I knew I wanted more education so I enrolled in Pima Medical's Health Care Administration (HCA) online associate degree program and then continued on, obtaining my bachelor's degree. I am currently working as an Alcohol Substance Abuse Program Coordinator with the US Army. Pima Medical was my foot in the door and it can be yours. Start your future! I encourage anyone considering the medical field to enroll at Pima Medical Institute.

While facing setbacks in my undergraduate BSPS (Bachelors in Science of Pharmaceutical Science) program due to grade issues, I decided to step away. My advisor from the University of Arizona (UA) suggested I apply to Pima Medical Institute's Pharmacy Technician program. From the moment I stepped into the program, I knew I was in the right place. I had wonderful instructors to help guide me on the path of reaching my goal. I enjoyed meeting new and different people, each with their own unique story. Probably the biggest obstacle I faced was the poor performance that was lingering from my time at UA and wanting to show that I wasn't the reason for not doing well there. I'm proud to say I cleared that hurdle and finished my program with a 4.0 GPA. One of the most invaluable aspects of Pima Medical was the accessibility of instructors for one-on-one guidance and always knowing I could easily ask questions and get help. This bolstered my confidence during my externship, enabling me to be comfortable with my colleagues and have the confidence to ask questions. I was thrilled to receive a job offer from Banner University Medical Center Tucson. My time there as an extern showcased my capabilities, earning me a position as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. I owe immense gratitude to my instructors Shaun, Sara and Grace for their unwavering support and dedication to my success. Pima Medical Institute is able to offer opportunities to those that believe they don't deserve it, when in reality they do!

While initially interested in Dental Hygiene (DH), at age 18, I chose to pursue Dental Assisting (DA) instead, partly because I was hesitant to commit to a university four-year DH program. Later, as I learned about Pima Medical Institute's two-year DH program, my research told me it was highly reputable and very challenging. This both intrigued me and motivated me and I enrolled. During my third semester an unexpected pregnancy brought huge challenges. My baby son was diagnosed with gastroschisis, a high-risk condition requiring frequent medical visits and a 54-day stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Despite the challenges of being a new mother and the emotional strain of the situation, I remained determined to succeed in my studies. I studied and completed assignments while at the NICU, my son serving as my inspiration. He was a reminder of my strength and my determination to never give up on my dreams. My DA employer had been supportive and excited about my becoming a Dental Hygienist and invited me to join their team as a DH upon obtaining my license. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of my instructors at Pima Medical for their unwavering support during my journey, especially as I navigated the challenges of my son's condition. Each instructor was incredibly helpful and supportive, always striving for my success. I am confident in the quality of education I received and would enthusiastically recommend it to others. While the program is rigorous, it is definitely achievable-I am living proof of that!

At age 19, I started at Pima Medical Institute after realizing that my initial path at UNM wasn't the right fit for me at that time. A friend suggested looking into CT technology, and after some research, I found that Pima Medical's Radiography (RAD) program offered a quicker and more fitting path to my career goals. The structured environment in the RAD program was exactly what I needed, although it wasn't always easy. My father passed away during my second semester, which made it tough to stay on track, but with the support of the school, I persevered. The clinical experiences were mostly positive, giving me valuable hands-on learning. Even in challenging situations, I gained skills by working independently, which proved to be great learning experiences. Graduating in 2004, I entered the workforce during a tech shortage and quickly landed a job. I started in x-ray and, over the years, expanded my expertise by becoming registered in mammography, bone density, and MRI. However, I chose to focus on mammography, as it offered a better work-life balance compared to MRI. After a decade at a hospital, I transitioned to a quieter clinic setting where I could work more independently, which suits me well. I've been at a small clinic for nearly a year now, enjoying the stability and better hours. Alongside my career, I'm also completing my bachelor's degree in university studies, thanks to a state program offering free classes to those close to finishing their degree. Looking ahead, I'm content with where I am but open to new opportunities, possibly in management. Pima Medical set me up for success, giving me the tools I needed to start and grow my career in radiology. Now 20 years later, I'm grateful for the education and experiences that have brought me to where I am today.

I had an amazing experience in the Medical Assistant (MA) program at Pima Medical Institute. I had the best instructors and, as we spent time studying together, my classmates became amazing friends. I had always known I wanted to be in a profession where I could help people and I wanted to work with children. My older sister had completed the Veterinary Technician (VT) program at Pima Medical, so I knew it was a school I could trust and enrolled in the MA program. I appreciated all the knowledge and information they gave us about working in the real world. The hands-on experience helped us feel prepared for our new career. Since graduating in 2018 I have worked for three clinics or organizations as an MA and have gained experience in family practice, OB/GYN and specialty clinics and have learned so much! I love my job! Every day is different and I am constantly learning new things. I am so very grateful for my instructors at Pima Medical for helping me to be able to achieve my dream job. I love what I do and I am so grateful I took the leap to enroll in the Medical Assistant (MA) program.

had just graduated from high school and was searching for a career that would allow me to help others while staying active. When I discovered Pima Medical Institute's Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program, I knew it was the perfect fit. The opportunity to complete the program in just 18 months and start my dream job immediately was exactly what I was looking for. My experience at Pima Medical was amazing. The class schedule allowed me to balance my studies with a part-time job, which was important for supporting myself. The coursework was challenging, but my instructors were incredibly supportive and always took the time to help me understand difficult concepts. I especially appreciated how they related the material to real-world, clinical situations, making everything we learned feel more relevant and practical. The hands-on experience in our lab and during clinical rotations was invaluable. It solidified my skills and prepared me for the workforce. Right after graduation I was hired at Athletico, where I've been working ever since. I'm currently pursuing a certification in pelvic floor therapy, a field I'm very passionate about. I am looking forward to raising awareness about its importance for overall well-being. I'm so grateful to my instructors at Pima Medical. The education I received there truly shaped me into the clinician I am today. I highly recommend Pima Medical to anyone looking to pursue a career in healthcare - it's an amazing school.

I have always wanted a career in healthcare. I had previously pursued a nursing route, but was discouraged and unsure if nursing was really what I wanted to do. I came to Pima Medical Institute interested in the Pharmacy Technician program, but the admissions counselor I spoke to asked if I had heard about Respiratory Therapy (RT). She showed me a video explaining what an RT did and I was sold. Then and there, I found my calling. I was meant to be a Respiratory Therapist. I graduated from the Respiratory Therapy (RT) program with an Associate of Occupational Science in 2011. Knowing where the industry was headed, and my drive to move beyond bedside, I enrolled in the online Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy program (BSRT) and graduated in 2014. Since then I have worked in a critical access hospital, an acute care hospital, and a level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU was my favorite place to work and where I excelled. My experience allowed me to sit for three additional specialty certifications, adding some hard-earned credentials to my resume. Along the way, I found my second calling and passion - teaching all things respiratory. I continued on to obtain a Master's degree, which opened up another door for career advancement. I began teaching in a local respiratory therapy program while still working bedside, waiting to make the full transition into education. Fortunately, an opportunity came up to teach in the very same program here at Pima Medical Institute where I had attended 14 years earlier. Here I am, walking the same halls and teaching in the same classrooms I was a student in many years ago. I've come full circle from student to faculty ... I am still learning and doing what I love!
